Folks:
Here's my analysis of the Jeep.

PS. Fifteen years ago in 1993 (birth of the World Wide Web -- was an early user of NCSA Mosaic browser), I had shared this information with Derek Redmond, Queen's University Film and Media, Canada. He has graciously credited me on:
CJ-5 and CJ-6 Jeeps on The CJ3B Page

yes sham, first I did post the pics of the baby austin but later removed. I think I will post it in appropriate thread. Can you PM me the link of the appropriate thread???

Ram thanks for the wonderful info. I scratched my head many a times to guess what that slot on the bonnet was. Even a mechanic near the shed could not shed some light on that.
And the groove in the rear, i understood recently after seeing a old restored jeep.
For these both, i have taken two pics and have asked few what those are for and never got an answer.

Was the 2wd a front wheel drive?? because, i remember seeing a differential case in the front (or) may this was later converted to a 4wd as the differential case, I am mentioning is nearer to the Dash board.

sorry, i am completely a noob here. I might be completely wrong on that differential case. It may not be one!!! I will try to dig in the old picture archive(there are 3 DVDs I have to look into)

raj.

Yes red car is Morris 8 convertible came for restoration, second car was Humber Hawk also going slow restoration, it was black colour before. There used to be Austins parked there earlier, the place is front of house Haji bhai, who is working on these cars, just opp. Hyd Bus Depot road, Chaderghat. Haji bhai also has one Baby Austin from his grand father very rare, which is inside that house. I have photos of Morris-8 and other Austins taken last year, will post soon.

I though his name is Hadi.

He told me he's more into bikes, his military (WW2?) BSA is a regular at the rallies here:

Yes Stanher, Hadi is correct, his full name I don't know, we call him Haji bhai for long time. He had good experience of repairing old cars and also
he has old motorcycles, but he has very rare Austin, he is not bringing
this car in rally's for some years, but I have photo of his Austin taken in
90's, will try to post soon.

I still dont see anything wrong in getting these rechromed. I might need a few spare ones.

I did have half a mind to take the dash, although the way its bashed in at the centre puts me off!

Yes unfortunately my car has an ampere meter cut into the RH corner of the otherwise pristine dash- common on pennants! :(
Sad to see the Pennant getting deeper into the soil.Stanher I m pleased to read that the Amby's hubcaps get fitted into the Pennant and Herald.Thats good news. Landy owners are a pampered lot. Because some of the spares they require are common with the Amby. So its easier to get the door glasses, windscreen, hubcaps etc.Its the only classic car in the market (maybe in the whole world) some of whose spares are common with a showroom car(Amby) and can be got from the new car showroom.
Yes the new Amby hubcaps are very shoddy. They shine a lot like nothing else, are thinner than nothing else and catch rust faster than anything else.

What a cruel fate this machine has had to suffer!

Just a couple of days ago I had posted these pictures of a nice Minx I had taken in about 93-94 I guess.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/958830-post55.html

Today look what I found up for sale with a dealer! It's shocking to see how badly it has deteriorated.
