vintage fiat

Hi
this is a picture of a 1930's Fiat Berlina in hyderabad with only the radiator grill missing as claimed by the owner, but it obviously is missing a lot more from over 15 years of neglect. The car belongs to the same person who owns the dodge brothers car i mentioned earlier.

The Super Select has 1100 Delite front fenders. The Estate is a two door. For me too it looks to the the Opel Rekord Estate of the early 1960's. Has some American design undertones. The front windscreen shape and the front door cut below the "A" pillar in such designs has been known to have hurt many tall Yankees kneecaps!

I know Anjan, but even Delight bumpers are so rare these days !! I feel every old part will be of some use to someone, and needs to be preserved.

Hi,
Nice to see you drop by here! How's your fiat doing?

Well, 'not to disappoint you but suren181 had actually posted the pics. of these same cars earlier- and the estate had been identified then itself, as an Opel Rekord. These are lying near Neredmet P.S., if I recall right? I'd suspected even the last time that they could be actually confiscated by the police. Which means this is their permanent rusting place! :(

The fiat is a select, and last time- when Suren had photo'd it- it was sitting in a normal position, not too far away from the opel! 'wonder what kind of calamity made it change its position like that!

Here's a reeeally sad sight that almost made me cry!

I was given the contact of a guy who specialises in chrome-plating in this place called "Guild", which is basically an area full of workshops (including vehicles lik road-rollers!) and welding/fabrication works etc., so went there today planning to get my pennant hubcaps chromed.

It turned out the shop was closed and I was told to come tomorrow.

But just on the way to the shop I came across this poor dead Pennant dismantling and burying itself! 'looks like it was in the process of getting done up but abandoned midway!

Surprisingly it still has most of the side-trims intact so once I get to know the chaps in that place better, I might be able to persuade them to let me have those, and maybe the glass as well.

And if you look closely in the interior pic., you'll find 2 of the doors lying buried under all that trash!

Firstly, why dont you buy new Amby hubcaps for the Pennant in stainless steel? They'll last longer and remain shinier.

Secondly, try and salvage that dash, or atleast the corners. Your car had a cut dash if I remember correctly.

Well, firstly the new Amby hubcaps currently available are not the original thicker/heavier ones but thinner/lighter ones that are absolutely crap in quality! One spares shop guy did say he can order a set of the originals although thye'd cost more, but I told him to go ahead nevertheless. I'll need a set for my herald as well.

I still dont see anything wrong in getting these rechromed. I might need a few spare ones.

I did have half a mind to take the dash, although the way its bashed in at the centre puts me off!

Yes unfortunately my car has an ampere meter cut into the RH corner of the otherwise pristine dash- common on pennants! :(

these pictures I have taken more than a year ago. I forgot whether I have posted them already or not!!!

these are located in front of a gate of an old building(probably the owner/caretaker of the cars) some en-route Sooraj Talkies from Chaderghat.

Right again, Sherlock!

Its thus a Humber Hawk V or VI:

Humber Hawk saloon Mk V/VI seen in 1957.

Anyways, this car and the red austin(?) beside it are still there, in the same condition. There're also a couple of baby austins and a white Hindustan 14 giving them company.
But these cars are certainly not candidates for this thread, atleast for now- they are just undergoing a slow restoration.

The "American" Jeep (Kaiser I guess) is not there now. And raj, I did post pics. of the merc. as well, in this thread itself, although cant find them now! Its a white ponton.

The red car looks more like a Morris 8 to me.
