Today, Chennai witnessed the annual Vintage Car rally, which is held at Don Bosco School at Egmore.

The turn out was very good, and it was a joy to witness so many wonderfully restored automobiles. a welcome change from the very disappointing turnout at the Ooty Rally, this year.

Attached below are pix from the rally.


To start off with, The Americans.

The americans had a solid representation this year, with the woodie buick stealing the show. The Blue studebaker and a few others grabbed eyeballs too.

Very impressive line up. The restoration quality seems to be very good. The Dodge Convertible is a new addition and seems to be very well restored. Was this Dodge recently restored by Team CSA? Jai's Chrysler looks good as usual. The blue Stude looks greats and so the TVS Chevy.

On the Dodge Brothers, I wish they would lower the number plate to the bumper. The current set up reveals those ugly clamps and as they would say locally in Bangalore "reduces the get up".

Chennai is lucky as so many TN cars remain there, though I noticed that the preference seems to be for post war models.

Very nice show. Can't help but notice that chennai cars really have spectacular chrome. You must have some great chrome guys around. The woodie buick must be custom built in india right? Nevertheless looks great!

Thanks,JayD, for the lovely pics ! Your new camera has done full justice and the pics have come out so well. I could not take many pics as my entries of cars and bikes were parked in different places and I was shunting between them !

Was a perfect Sunday for me Myself, JayD and fellow FIAT'ian Dhans visited the show in my SuperSelect!

It was a pretty hot day and we got exhausted. But these beauties ensured that we forget the sun

The dodge was amazing. especially the interiors. I loved the period upholstery, a welcome change from the 'art leather' which we are so used to seeing now!

the stude, and some others, made an appearance is rajnikants Sivaji movie a while back. Looked smashing yesterday, the pix do not do justice to its colour.

yeah, a lot of TN cars still survive, and quite a few of them are in long term ownership too.

yep, was very surprised to note such shiny chrome. there are a few guys who do a decent job in TN, but nothing exceptional..

I too was under the impression that the woody was home built. but the workmanship is amazing.

Beautiful ! Just beautiful ! It was a treat to see the pictures of these wonderful vehicles. My personal favourite was MDE 1420. A query: Why does the green MSP 4050 have its bonnet open ? Thanks for posting the details of this event , I wish there were more of these in Pune.

Nope, didnt see any forum cars at the event. Only met up with Collector and BHP-ian- Dussey, who came there with his Superb Ford GPW, Merc 170V, Lambretta and BSA.
