STEYR PUCH HAFLINGER -

During a family outing to Khadakvasla ( Pune), I bumped in to this vehicle. As you can see most of the parts are stolen and most probably sold as scrap. On checking I found this on the net.

A 650 cc 4x4 LUV. If only it can be restored. Its a full time 4x4 vehicle.

This is a rear engine vehicle but the engine was missing ref the 4th picture.

I know of two such vehicles in the South. One restored but sporting a Maruti engine (original engine is available) and the other is to be restored. These vehicle have water wadding capabilities.

Used to have in bombay too... when I was a kid. Maybe Harit uncle will tell about those

Lots of them came to India. Maybe on some project(s). I don't think the Indian armed forces ever had them, or maybe they did - I dunno. There were a few in Delhi alone. At least three or four that I'd spot regularly till about 6-7 years ago. One used to be parked outside a house on Poorvi Marg, Vasant Vihar. Maybe last spotted five years back.

There is one in Delhi with Mr.Diljit Titus,a well known collector and restorer in Delhi.One can see his collection at his farm.By the way is the one in in pune for sale,or any other Halflinger available.
