I think the Jackie Shroff Jaguar SS that Harit talked about was MMB-4471.

Bumping up my favourite thread

It seems the Cadillac was bought from Ooty, from one Khan Bahadur Abdul Rahim Sait, probably jointly owned by Roni Khan and Pesi Shroff. Sait also owned the veteran Rover now in a Delhi collection, and very likely also the Humberette that was in the Mallya collection for many years. Over to the experts for confirmation.

Another update - it seems this Alfa is a 1929 Tipo 6C, 1750cc, 'Gran Sport' with Barker DHC coachwork. In May 1955 it was sold to one K Latifi - does it ring any bells? Engine and chassis number reportedly 0312939. Can anyone confirm its survival?

This looks like the same car to my untrained eye.

Here is the same Buick from Faster's earlier rally lineup post, seen in the film 'Bundal Baaz'. I'm told it was eventually scrapped in a movie shoot, but perhaps not this one.

This is was a nice excuse to bump up what is certainly my favourite thread.

Faster789's collection-kashmir-alfa-romeo-1575-6c1500-tatler-dec-1928-descr.jpg

From Tatler, December, 1928
----------------------------------------------------------
Faster789's collection-kashmir-alfa-romeo-1575-6c1500-maybe-bmx5030.jpg

I believe BMX-5030 is still unidentified ?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Faster789's collection-kashmir-alfa-romeo-1575-6c1500-similar-barker-may-1953.jpg

A Barker bodied car similar to BMX-5030 (May 1953 advertisement). NOT implying that this car is BMX-5030, just similar body style.
-----------------------------------------------------------

So putting all of this together, is BMX-5030 the ex-Kashmir Alfa ?

Some seniors had mentioned that the Alfa is an ex Jaipur car, but it could well have been the Kashmir car. Hope it turns up some day.

Came across this participants list of the inaugural Bombay Statesman event, dated January 1971.

Faster789's collection-71.jpg

Just over 50 entries, many of the competition numbers match the initial batch of rally pictures, which allows us to date the event.

Mentions a Maharaja of Jawhar Mercedes 48 H.P. Must be the 540K we recently saw in the Bhogilal Collection thread.

Correct, the same car. In this event it was seen with the plate JAWHAR 4. Do we know when Jawhar bought it? I assume not brand new but maybe passed on via one of the larger states. I have chassis number recorded as 130908, subject to correction.

The mystery behind the 1934 Invicta S-Type "GW-7575" seems to have been solved.

GW-7575, Calcutta registration 49668, Chandanaggore registration (thanks Karl!) CH-440 and BMU-7693 are all the same car - Chassis S165. Originally registered GW-7575 in England, brought to India by the Prince of Naunada (?), later Jimmy Baird and Lars de Jounge who exported it legally with the Nawanagar and another R-R. The car survives in excellent nick in the U.K. (registered DSK-740).

I do not think this is correct - the source of GW7575 connection is taken from TBHP itself. I do believe that GW7575 is the same car that later became N5555 in Bombay, and later BMW 3240, Roni Khan.

The car now in the UK was registered 49668 in 1939 itself. Subsequently CH440 around 1940/41, and eventually BMU 7693 (Bombay around 1953) before leaving India.
