Most of the alloys these days are not chrome plated but chrome painted. The real plating will cost your friend as much as new ones.

Any chrome contacts in Bombay?! Knew one in Behram Baug, Jogeshwari but I think he's shut shop. Either ways, any other?!

It can be but would not be easy to find a place doing it. Ask somebody who does Chrome parts for vintage cars & those guys might be willing to do them.

Planning on getting a gold look for the Alloys

Dears,

Please advice me how could I get a similiar effect of black and gold combination on my Black Baleno. I run OE Alloys. I am pretty much satisfied with its design. But this Subaru Sti has driven me nuts. I need this color on my alloys badly. Please advice.

I put a new set of alloys for my Fiesta from Hot Tracks Bangalore. Its just one month old and the all nuts have rusted. HT recommended these special chrome nuts at the cost of Rs1800. HT claims that theres no solution to rusting. Can anyone advise me the next steps to remove the rust or is there anything as rust free nuts and where do we get this in Bangalore

Try and see if you lay your hands on a set of chrome vanadium nuts. These will not rust. Be careful while buying as there are plenty of fakes out there.

another option, much cheaper, is to get wheel nut covers, i have black ones for my white alloys, chrome for the silvers, and as you can see from the photos, can be sanded down and repainted to suit. ebay uk usually has them for about £10-£15 for 20.

Strange infection... spreadin on the alloys.

Need some help identifying and clearing up this... fungus... if I may call it so.

I have this strange whitish thing spreading on my rides alloys, and it seems to be spreading. I tired scraping, but then that isnt working. Infact if you feel it with your fingers, you wont feel anything different, they seems gel with the wheels.

The alloys are just about 11 months old, and they get cleaned in normal detergent + water once every month. Other wise it is just plain water wipe, 2-3 times a week, may be less but definitely not more.

Any of you guys facing this problem? How did you over come it? Any place in Bangalore to get it fixed?

It's a machine finish alloy so nothing can be done on it since the finish has been spoilt already. Since they are only 11 months, try claiming warranty for them.

Get them buffed. Standard issue with alloys that aren't cleant frequently enough.

In Mumbai I have seen people applying a golden / yellow rust protection polish on chrome parts before monsoon , don't know the brand but that can be an ultra cheap solution for what you want and it stays for whole season.
