Tyre Gurus, need your advice.

Would the stock alloys be able to take 205/55/R15 tyres? Would there be speedo error? If yes, how much?

I have finalised Conti CPC2 as I drive a lot on bad roads. Are they available in 205/55/R15? Cost?

c.drive is available in 185/65R14 which is a good upgrade from 175/70R14

I haven't posted a detailed review but here's a 2 liner

I have used the A-drives on my Esteem and they're great too incase you wish to go for them. Good grip and really, really quiet on all road surfaces.
The C-drives are quiet too but on Bombay's paver block roads they tend to roar a bit. Other than that I have no complains with them in my Punto.

I changed them the very next day of delivery.

With 185/65 on R14 you lose out on a bit of ground clearance (every mm counts) - for this very reason I opted for 185/70 on R14 and this is in my 2011 pre-jacked up Punto (171 mm ground clearance). Since binaiks's location handle says KL & KA and Bangalore atleast being notorious for huge speed-breakers, I would recommend 185/70 on R14. I went for Bridgestone Turanza ER60.

There are quite few options besides ZLO - MY02 is around 4.6K in Bangalore, 175/70 is the wrong size for the Punto, which is why they changed it to 165/80 around 2011 Jan. I've just got XM2 185/70 from New Bharath Pit Stop for 4.9K, the ride quality is quite good, anything is an improvement over JK!

Apollo acceleres are good if you are looking for life, saw an SX4 in Kerala last week which had done 80K on its original set

When i had to change my stock bridgestones 175 70 r14 i too in an effort to upsize got er60 but my car lost its dynamics and after lot of reassurance run for 1000 kms i decided to change and now my 60k run punto has michelin 185 65 r14 and car behaves much better and ground clearance is as good as with stock b250s

I still believe b250 with 175 70 r14 to b the best for punto emotion pre 2012 model

The size is 185/70 R 14 , a shop in Electronic City, Michelin was 4850 or thereabouts.

ZLO's are good. You can really go for them. 8 months on pretty decent IMO!!

re: Fiat Punto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I've used 205/60/R15 Yoko decibels on my stock alloys for over 42K kms. No issues whatsoever.

Speedo error on the size you're thinking of would be 1.4 % too fast.

Hi,

Yesterday, I thrown out GT3's [Most Frustrated tyres] & got full set of MY02 195/60/R15 for 20k.

I changed those worst tyres at 26657 kms with 2 to 4 punctures in each tyre, side wall patch in 2 tyres.

re: Fiat Punto : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My friend wants to change his 165/80 R14 on his Punto. The problem is there is NOT much choice in 165 profile. From some of the posts, I make out that 175/70 R14 is NO MORE used on Punto. The next option is to get 185/70 R14.

The tyres will be mounted on stock rims. He is looking more towards comfort tyres with less road noise

1. What is the BEST choice in 165/80 R14 ?
2. What other choices for low road noise tyres in 185/70 R14, other than MRF Z.L.O ?
