My Skoda Superb has reached 30,000kms and tires have worn out. They are currently on 205/55 R16 Bridgestone Turanza's. I wanted a set of tires which are purely for handling. Ride quality doesn't matter.

I also wanted to upsize the tires if possible. Is a 225 possible? Also what brand and model tires should I go in for? Again I only need handling.

Michelin PP2 or for extreme braking Yokohama Advan neavos.

Yes 225 is possible for skoda superb.
Try "Michelin Pilot Sport PS2" - 225/45 R17
And you can't go wrong with Michelins.

And yes offcourse upsizing is possible and since you wanted handling at your priority, Pilot sport should do the work.

DOnt go in for 225 or anything. 205s will do the job well enough.

Any other brand ? I was interested in Pirelli's.

I guess i will not upsize it. Ill stick to the same size. The car's handling is horrible so I hope the new tires will help it handle better.

Car's handling is horrible? Probably due to the soft suspension. The Bridgestones are supposed to be really nice tyres.

You can anyway go for 205/55 R16 S drives or if you feel the current handling is crap, splurge on Ad07s!! You will not say it is crap then! :p

Indra,

Go in for the Pirelli P7 series, they are awesome, currently doing run on my Laura, and also on my friends Laura, they are just awesome! In case u dont get that, then can go for the Yokohama's S-Drive, very good tyres.

The size u should go for is 225/50 is the best replacement for you.
going for 225/45 will bring down your ground clearance quiet a bit.

Next sizes, if tyres are available, then would be the 235/50 or 235/45 (wherein 235/50 will give u a slightly more ground clerance, and 235/45 will bring it down slightly)

Now I have to choose between the Advan neavos and Pirelli P7. I am not sure if I upsize them they will touch the side walls of the car. So I don't want to take a risk.

Insane Devil, since you have the Pirellis on your Laura can you tell me how much they cost each?

And also the price of Yokohama Advan neavos?

Price of Yoko AD07s in 205/55 R16 is 8.5k. Pirelli P7 will be cheaper. But be wary about warranty and replacement as they are grey market stuff.

Hi Indra,

The Pirelli P7 are real good ones! as i said, i have been using it, and its going superb!

There is a problem with the Yokohama Advan Neavos, they are lil noisy and run out early. But they are race performance tyres. So if you want sheer performance, and can get the Neovas in your size, then nothing like it, but please go in for 225/50 sizing that would suit your car the BEST! guaranteed it will not touch inside.

Price i paid for the Pirelli P7 is 4,900/- per tyre

225/50 is overkill. The quality of the rubber is more important than the size. If you put too big a size, it will just slow the car down. If you're using a high quality rubber like the Advan Neovas, trust me, no need to upsize.

Heh lame comparison. The Neovas should ideally be compared to the Pirelli Pzero not some cheapo tyre. The pricing is also similar.

I'm going in for the Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI but know nothing about tyres. What I'll be getting are the Goodyear 205/55/R16. I'm a conservative driver not prone to driving fast. Do I need to go in a new set of tyres or should I stick to the one's I'm getting. Also, is it worth going in for the 17 size tyres?

17" is a waste. Please get the tyres changed anyway. The NCT5s are crap. Get Continentals in 205/55 R16. They are comfortable and can cope up when you push them hard.
