Mods, sorry for the duplicate post but I realized that this is the correct forum to ask my tyre upsize related questions:

I am getting a Ritz Zxi that comes with stock JK 185/70/14s tyres.
I am planning to replace these with Michelins or Yokos.
Can someone tell me the correct/recommended upsize for me?

Chnaging the tyre size

Hi,

I own a Opel Corsa Sail 1.4 from 4 years and completed 55000 KM. Now the time has come for me to replace all 4 tyres and I am confused about replacing tyres. Currently the tyre size 175/70 R 13 and I am planning to the steel disc with alloys and also with little bigger tyres, so that I get bit more ground clearance.

My question is, which tyres/alloys I should buy and what size? If the tyre size is changed will that impact the driving or any disadvantages of having bigger size tyres than the company recommended?

Please advice.

Thanks in Advance.

Planning to change the tyres on my 2005 Indica LGi.
Current set is 165/65R13 - Apollo Amazer XL

Would 185/60R13 be the best size or is there a 175 width tyre which can also be used here?

Currently I have Apollo Accelere and XM1 in my mind. Any other suggestions?

Gurus,

I am planning to upgrade the tyres on my spark without switching to alloys. The plan is to fit the new tyres in the OE rim itself for now.

The current profile I guess is 155/70/13. I want to change to Michelin XM1+. Can some one tell me what would be the best and safe profile in 13 that I can switch to?.

The steel rim size is 4.5 J.

Also let me know the approximate price per tyre.

Thank you.

Tyre Upsize for Ritz Lxi

Hi Buddy(iraghava) ,
Need your serious advise with regard to tyre upsize for my brand new Ritz Lxi purchased on 2nd November 2009. I recently purchased and installed Neo alloys wheels for the car in size 14x6. Can you please help me and advise if this is the right choice for the alloy. The original size of factory fitted rim was 14x5. Now the new alloy wheel is 14x6 which I guess means that the alloy is 1 inch more broader than the rim. Can you plz advise if this increase of 1 inch in width could be harmful and possibly unsafe to the suspension. On the Neo wheels site the Neo Titan alloy has been shown as compatible with the Ritz in size 14x6. I have posted this question elsewhere on team-bhp - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...ze-ritz-6.html

Request you to please help me decide if this was an ideal upgrade for my car. Also that if the present standard JK tyres 165 80 R14 will be compatible with the new 14x6 alloy or I would need to change the tyres to a bigger size for better compatibility ?
Thanx in advance

on 14X6, 185/70 R14 can also work out but 195/65 R14 will work best with 14X6.

I have to change my tyres for my OHC, and am thinking of up-sizing from stock 175/70/13 to 195/60/14. But at the moment only have budget for tyres, will do the alloys 6 months down the line.

I just spoke to the folks at Saifee, planning to go down on saturday. I thought 195/60/r14 Michelin xm+ was 4000, he quoted 4500, isn't that a bit high?

He also told me even though he will procure 14 inch Honda rims for 400 each its not recommended to fit 195/60/r14 on 14 inch rims, something about the tyres not fitting on the rim. Never heard that before, anyone have any idea about this?

Fitting 14x6J is not going to be a problem but 165/80 R14 is too thin for a 6J rim, I would advise you switch to either 185/70 R14 or 195/65 R14.

Raul - 195/60 is quite an expensive size in Michelin and 4500 is about par for it. You can also try the Yoko A Drive or Apollo Acceleres in this size, the Yoko will be significantly cheaper.

And he's right about the rims. What you have right now are 13" rims (signified by the R13 at the end of the stock tyre size) and to put on 195/60 R14 you'll need to get the 14" steel rims from the NHC or 14" alloys.

Thanks Iraghava, to clarify as a stop gap I was planning to buy 14 inch rims for the tyres but the saifee person said 14 inch steel rims would be a problem with 195/60/r14 tyres, why? Perhaps its is a miscommunication.

The steel rims would be too narrow to take 195/60 R14. The rim width would not be enough. You need a minimum of 6j to fit 195/60 R14. Only 14" alloys are available with 6j width.

Raul
With 14" steel rims u can opt for 185/65-14 instead of 195/60-14.
195s would be a lil too much for a 5j rim. btw which car's 14" steel rim are u planning to get for your OHC ?

Kpzen, honestly haven't paid much attention to the rims since they were a stop gap, had presumed the tyres would fit without issue, but now this is a problem.

Perhaps I will have to pony up the funds for alloys after all. Both you and Iraghava recommend 195-60-14 as the perfect upsize for the ohc so I am keen on that. As for rims I thought they are all the same, the saifee guy did mention original honda rims. I prefer simple matt alloys and had seen 14inch honda alloys for 10k for 4 in Pune sometime ago, probably would go for something like that.

So 195/60/14 tyres won't fit on 14inch rims? There are no 6j steel rims? Nikhilb I din't know that at all.

At last found a thread which is active...

I just bought a OHC the tires are pretty worn out...

was thinking of up sizing !

how about these sizes ? 185/50 R15 OR 185/55 R15 OR 185/60 R15

The 185 section is must and R15 cannot be compromised...was just confused about the sidewall thickness !

Help would be appreciated !
