Not mush impressed after initial usage. Steering effort & noise reduction are the only +ves I could make out. Smaller contact patch from 205 to 195 could be responsible for steering effect though.
Ride comfort which was my top priority has either remained same or deteriorated, handling too was better before.
I'd say these are over-rated tyres.
Most of the bridgestone tires have reinforced sidewalls to take care of India's pothole smeared roads. The ride quality is a natural victim w/o a supple sidewall. One cant have it all

Yes, the reduction in steering effort should be due to the smaller contact patch. Also the smaller contact patch for a 15 incher should reduce the handling/grip noticeably, even if the tires are of high quality. ie, IMO, average quality 205/60/15 should handle more than good quality 195/60/15.

Regarding comfort, it should also deteriorate irrespective of make, and that is because of the lower sidewall height of the 195/60 ones. Also, I don't think the Turanza's are high on comfort, but they definitely are much better on handling/grip.

If you had gotten the same size Turanzas, you would have noticed the change. In this case, only tyre noise and steering effort are the factors that ought to change.

XM1+ has crossed 15500 kms in adventure (front alone) . They are so far very good , from the present wear I assume it to be there until 35000 kms . It is pretty good when we consider feedback from adventure owners . There was uneven wear which got rectified after doing wheel alignment . The rear tires shows no signs of any wear, they actually served as front tires for 3000 kms . Before putting michelin , adventure underwent a correction of camber settings . Previously a shim was used to serve the purpose .

From OEM BS S322 to Michelin XM1+ for Santro Xing

Folks,

On my Santro OEM BS I clocked 63k kms with 1.4 mm of tread left... i know even the dealer had a tough time believing it. (Am a quick driver but with minimal burn & anticipatory braking).

Was pretty happy with my BS but a little tired of the noise.

Reading your reviews got a set of XM1+ today and within 10 kms of ride I could feel the difference. Tried out the back seat after the tyre change and the Santro's ride quality seemed to have improved by leaps and bounds.

Thanks much for the guidance and keep the posts coming in!

Was ER60 Stopped?

I was looking to change my stock tires Goodyear to either XM1+ or BS ER60
I have inquired few shops in Chennai and everywhere i see there is no ready stock on ER60, they are asking for a waiting period of a week.

Is this due to not a fast moving model or was it stopped?
My travel path often doesn't have a smooth road, reading the review on XM1+ for smooth road. I am little afraid whether i would be fooled on buying a XM1+.
Just wondering have Michelin upgraded their tires to suite Indian roads or we should stick to ER60.

Is Yokohama A-drive for 185/70/R13 good?

I think the Yokohama's are way cheaper than the Bridgestones, or Micheline's, and it is a great VFM product, but then, the latter two perform better. For bad roads, I guess, you can opt for ER60's. Regarding availability, yes, there is shortage , but then If you look well you should be able to lay your hands on a pair or two.

Absolutely not true! A good quality 195 tyre will easily be better than the crappy 205 tyre on almost all surfaces!

There is a major shortage of tyres in the Indian market. Unfortunately the buyers have to run from pillar to post ot get the tyre of their choice.

ER60 has not been stopped. Try with other dealers.

Well, Goodyear Venturas aren't that crappy, and 205 Goodyear Venturas should handle better than 195 Turanzas.

Sorry for not being specific. . Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Venturas are good tires but only for 1st 10k kms. Once they cross 10k mark the performance starts deteriorating and they becomes noisy as hell.
That was my experience in Zen 185/60-13.

I am asked 4150/- for a 175/65 14 sized to fit in my Fiesta. Since this is the first replacement, wondering if this price is justified or can I get a better deal in BLR ?

you cannot do better than go to Madhu's at the end of Richmond Road/ Shanthi Nagar side - I got a superb deal on 185 60 R14 Apollos yesterday for my dad. The deal on Yokohamas also is very good indeed.
With TBHP membership they extend certain other special privileges too. Worth a visit in my opinion.
I am sure they will be able to help you with your Bridgestones or Michelins too.

What is good PSI for 155/70R13 for Zen with car weighing 1000kgs?

They are brand new.

Im currently filling 30psi using my personal air compressor.

One of the pump filled 32psi which was a little bouncy.

30 ~32 psi is fine for Zen.

Mostly, the reading of pumps @ fuel stations are not accurate and also varies from pump to pump.

Dear Gurus,
My Baleno is due for a tyre change. I have been running Bridgestone Potenza GIII for last 50k kms. A lot of my driving is on highways and interiors of UP, HP, UK Punjab Haryana. I generally maintain 100 Kms on highways and max 120 and would rate myself as moderately enthusiastic driver. I have no issue with GIIs except road noise and being a little prone to punctures(may be subjective this puncture thing).

Now the question is which one should I go for GIIIs or ER 60 Turanza considering my usage.

Kindly advise???
