Conti are 2nd best left in market then Yoko earth as far I have enquired.

If silent ride with comfort is your priority, Contis are beter. Yoko Earth 1s are abuse friendly but a bit on the noisier side plus a major stone magnet.

Yoko Earth-1 is just a notch above a 'basic' level tire. A fair comparison in Yoko lineup with the Conti UC6 is Yoko BluEarth-GT.

Thanks.

Re: Continental tyres

It's time to replace the tyres again on my 2nd gen Hyundai i20 diesel again. Currently running michelin primacy 4S in the stock size of 195/55/r16. I have been very happy with the michelins since they were a considerable upgrade in terms of both noise as well as wet grip in comparison to the commuter bridgestones the car came with. Road noise is almost non-existent.

Considering the car is close to 80k kms and 8 years old, is it worth replacing the tyres with expensive michelins again? I am of half a mind to sell the car off. Are there cheaper alternatives to the primacy 4S? Should I upsize to 195/60 to see if ride quality improves a bit?

My bad, I meant Yoko Blue Earth too but didn't write up full name. Too bad that Michelin are gone. I have used them for nearly 18 years and found no better alternative to them.
I am not in market for new tyres right now, but in few weeks I will need to exchange factory tyres on Seltos upon delivery. So i was doing a bit of looking around and UC6 and Blue earth came highly recommended as almost identical replacement to Michelins but not really sure about either of them.
Looks like there is no other brand except UC and Yoko blues to consider.

How is market sentiment about vredestein on 16" rims?

Re: Continental tyres

In my opinion the perfinza is a solid premium segment tyre that most people don't think about because they are exclusive to MRF dealers. My father in law got a set for his Honda City zx cvt and they have transformed the car. I was advised from different friend circles that they are best for the zx as it has a horrible ride quality due to low sidewall. Their customer service has been top notch as opposed to continental which won't even bother responding to emails.

Re: Continental tyres

I am currently having 185/65/R14 Michelin XM2 in Steel Wheel with a running of ~70K Kilometers. So planning to replace 14 inch steel wheel with 15 inch steel wheel (for pocket friendly) and Conti tyres. I was reading through the posts to find a difference between CC6 and UC6 and advantages/disadvantages of increasing the width to 195 but some how ended up in putting dzire post here. My bad.

Hope this helps. I grabbed this pic from Conti website back when I was shopping for tyres.

Re: Continental tyres

Its time to change my XUV's tyres and I am choosing between Conti SportContact5 and PremiumContact6.

Can somebody let me know the difference and and suggest which one is better ?

My usage is 80% city / 20% highways and tend to accelerate and brake bit aggressively.

Re: Continental tyres

Any news on when Continental is planning to bring in UC7 tyres to India? It has been over 2 years since these tyres were launched in few other countries, but we are yet to receive them.

I was planning to replace my tyres with Continental UC tyres (225/50/18), but do not want a situation wherein I get UC6 series tyres now and then UC7 launches a couple of months later. As it is, there are very few good options available for this particular profile.

Also, the previous time I had gotten new tyres, I got Bridgestone Turanza with 55 Aspect ratio (225/55/18) tyres (since Continentals/ Michelins were unavailable then due to some import restrictions). Is it a no-brainer to change back to 50 aspect ratio tyres (size as per OEM) or will new tyres with 225/55/18 profile make no difference to the balance of the car etc.?

Re: Continental tyres

How are continental CC H/T tyres? Dealer says they are newer and better compared to UC6 but I don’t see any feedback online for these.

Re: Continental tyres

I have to replace tyres on the Jeep Compass and after some research, zeroed in on Conti CrossContact AX6. While i see it listed in some online tyre shops, Tyre Empire in Bangalore claimed that there has been no supply of this tyre for many months now.
Any insights on the same, and worthy alternatives? My enjoyment is generally going rally mode on bad roads, though the usage will be 90% good tarmac.

Re: Continental tyres

Hi, would like to update about my experience with UC6 tyres. My set has covered around 45k kms and 35% tread seems to be left.

But the wet grip they provide is still excellent. Recently had a spell of heavy rain in greater noida, was driving on the noida expressway at night. I was getting late, so was driving a bit fast.

Safe to say these tyres slashed throught the wet roads with relative ease and rapid lane changing was a breeze despite heavy downpour.

Tyres have definitely become noisy though but it's quite expected after 45k kms.

Re: Continental tyres

I would like to share my experience of Conti UC6 with size 195/55 R16 on my Honda city ZX idtec. Overall experience has been good and I have completed several long highway trips with it. Currently I have clocked 25K kms with the UC6 and looks like it would carry on for another 20-25K kms. The wet handling is good and overall its a balanced tyre in terms if handling and noise. The issues I have faced are couple of punctures and sidewall chipping. I would be interested to know how the UC6 fares in comparison with Yoko BlueEarth AE51 and MRF Perfinza.

Re: Continental tyres

Just changed the Yokohama Earth 1's on my Lodgy to Conti UC6's yesterday. Drove just about 60kms till now so I will confine myself to my initial observations after the change:
1. The Conti's are really quiet. The Yoko's used to produce a lot of tyre noise and it'd become extremely annoying after about 85-90 kmph. After the change, this noise has gone down by a large margin.
2. The ride has also considerably improved and going over the bad patches of the road (which are in plenty thanks to the widening of the NH going on) have become a lot more discreet.
I cannot really comment on any other aspects as of now but will update the thread when possible.

The Yokohamas barely lasted 60k km. Though Michelins are my first choice, they were not available in the 195/65 R15 size which I upsized the Lodgy's tires to at the time of purchase, and hence Continental UC6 was the choice. I noticed that there is a yellow and red dot on the sidewalls and on googling it, I found out that the yellow point indicates the lightest point of the tyre and the red, the heaviest point. According to Google, the valve stem should be lined up with the yellow point. Is this true? On the rear, driver-side tire, it is not properly lined up and on another tire, the valve stem is diagonal to the yellow dot. Is this of any worry?

On a side note, I saw a set of Apollo Acelere at the vendor which had the same tread pattern as my old Michelins!
