It has been ~24K Kms and they are going good as of now.

Did you get them rotated and balanced periodically ? If not it might be a good idea to do it. Also these tyres are very sensitive to air pressure. Slight under/over inflation makes them go off in the handling.
Hey Ankit, thanks for the quick reply.

In my case these tyres were better in terms of grip in the initial couple of thousand kms after installing them. It was only recently after running around 5k kms on them that I have been noticing these issues. Coming to tyre pressure, I do keep it maintained at 32psi with my own Michelin foot pump so that’s not an issue either.

I’m suspecting something might be wrong with the alignment and balancing like you have suggested. It was exactly 6200 kms ago that I got it aligned during the installation of new tyres. Will go get that done and update the results.

Re: Continental tyres

I switched from Apollo Apterra HP (OEM tyres) to Continental Cross contact HT on my Nissan Kicks Diesel yesterday. Odo is at 457xx kms.

When the tyre shop guy recommended me Continental Cross contact HT to me I was under the impression that I was being duped and the tyres were fake! Continental India website doesn't mention these tyres. Then saw a thread on Team bhp and news articles on few websites regarding launch of these tyres. Continental Cross contact HT are replacement of ContiCrossContact LX2.

Other alternative was Bridgestone Dueler Sport. I wanted to go for Bridgestone Turanza but they were not available in my car's stock size. Have really good experience with Turanzas on my Nexon.

My old tyres had gone hard and become very noisy. So I was expecting improvement with any set of new tyres. But I was surprised to see how much the steering feel improved. Earlier I used to feel the road surface through my steering, now the steering wheel feels smoother and lighter. Could feel improvement in braking as well in traffic. Hopefully these tyres will serve me well.

I got a good deal on Continental CrossContact H/T. Paid 50k including balancing, valves and fitment. Went to Tyre Professionals for alignment.

Did a 6000 km roadtrip just 2 days after that, the tyres are really good with less/no road noise coming in to the cabin, whereas the stock apollo tyres were very noisy. Overall, steering response and braking were really good. I guess the new CrossContact H/T tyres are not yet available online.

Also, the tyres were just 4 weeks old by first week of April, don't remember the exact week.

I'm seeing an immediate difference in the smooth ride post tire change but will post my experience after my highway run planned next month.
Sharing an update.

Done 3.6k kms after tyre change and I'm happy with the purchase. There was one incident last month while returning from office late night. Heard an unusual slap from rear wheel. Few times stopped on the way couldnt find. There was no noticeable change in the tyre pressure. Stopped few yards from the stop and found nearly 1 inch flat like dagger have pierced the tyre on the inner side almost on the wall.

Since home wasnt too far slowly drove till I reached home and the air holded good till then. Next day morning, found deflated.

Called up the tyre dealer from where I bought, he requested to swap with spare wheel and bring it to shop. He registered the case with Continental company and wrote a slip to me.

Then he said would call when the company inspection is completed and tyre received for replacement.

Instead of few days, took nearly a week for them to replace the tyre.

Not sure if I should blame the dealer or company.

The following week had to run to Coimbatore and enjoyed the grip and experienced better braking.

Re: Continental tyres

Hi,

I recently upgraded from MRF ZVTV to CCC6, while the comfort is definitely better, cornering capability and steering accuracy is terrible. I drive a 2016 Skoda Rapid MPI. Fuel efficiency has also taken a hit. The 1.6, in the city, drinks more than me. On the ZVTV I used to average 9 in the city and 15 on the motorways. Now I'm down to 7 and 10 respective. I have now inflated them to 36 PSI against the recommended 33 to avoid the balloon tyres feeling, but all it did was victimize my suspension. Is there any thing i can do or do i just buy new stiffer tyres and donate these to the local go kart track.

I do not know how to help you. But I experienced a similar behaviour when I replaced the brand new stock Ceat Securadrives on the i20 to a UC6. The Contis stuck to the tarmac, but also felt sluggish because of it. It felt like the already weak NA engine had to put in an extra effort to get going. Didn’t make much of a difference on the comfort front. I’ll be looking at other brands/tyres for my next change.

Re: Continental tyres

Hey folks,

I want to change tyres for my 2013 Verna Fluidic (185/65R15).

I'm looking at the three famous tyres recommended by BHPians:
- Continental UC6
- Yokohama BlueEarth AE51
- Yokohama Earth 1

Now the 2013 "Fluidic" Verna has low GC and a really soft suspension setup already.

My usage for this car is limited to around 5000km per year (so wear is not a concern, FE is also not a major concern but an added bonus as I'm already at 8kmpl in the city #deadinside).

Drive will be mix of city and highways.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated! Thanks ^_^

Re: Continental tyres

Guys I am planning to change the tires on my vehicle. Stock replacement(205/65 R16) to UC6.
I am concerned about the drop of FE in case I replace with the existing one.
Creta is anyways not known for FE and a further drop will be catastrophic
Current set is Goodyear Assurance and have clocked 44k in 5 years today.
Appreciate some views and suggestions.

Re: Continental tyres

Fiat Punto Tyre Change at Tyre Professionals, Bengaluru
I own a 2015 Fiat Punto Evo Sport which originally came with 195/55/R16 Apollo Alnac 4G tyres as OEM. At a mileage of 39,000 km, the right front tyre sustained sidewall damage while parking on an under-construction road, prompting me to change all four tyres.

Following suggestions from Team-BHP members, I visited Tyre Professionals in January 2020. They recommended Continental MC5 tyres, each costing Rs. 7,300. The total bill, including wheel balancing and alignment, came to Rs. 30,500. On my way back from Tyre Professionals, I noticed an increase in engine noise entering the cabin near Hebbal Flyover. A few days later, I realized that the reduced tyre noise allowed me to hear the engine noise more clearly. Overall, I was very satisfied with the Continental MC5 tyres.

After adding another 43,000 km to my Punto, I decided to return to Tyre Professionals for new tyres. This time, they recommended the Continental UC6. I visited them at 1:00 PM on January 23, 2024, and also asked them to install SensAiry Pro Bluetooth LE TPMS. Their service was excellent and prompt. The total cost was Rs. 39,570, broken down as follows: Rs. 8,000 per tyre, Rs. 1,370 for wheel balancing and alignment, and Rs. 6,200 for the TPMS.

I have UC6 on my Linea from past 1 year and 13K kms and can vouch for that. Coming from Michelin Primacy 3ST, it comes quite close on offering smooth ride, good grip and similar fuel efficiency.
I am not sure on longevity but its all good till now and I hope it will last similar distance.

I would beg to differ. I installed CC6 175 R14 in my wagon r vxi. It completely changed the driving profile of the car. They are really silent. No road noise whatsoever. Comfort increased significantly. High speed stability improved a lot. At 120km/h it feels quite stable. Wet grip is excellent on these tyres. Most importantly, cornering and filtering through traffic became a breeze. They inspire great confidence while throwing the old boat into corners, almost to the point where it has actually become quite fun and engaging to do so.

Only minus I've seen is that they wear out faster. 30,000km and they are 3/4th gone.

Michelin Primacy 3 ST replaced in 2021 with Continental UC6. Fuel efficiency has certainly taken a hit. Not able to take it beyond 20 kmpl on the highway when with 3ST I was comfortably able to clock over 22 kmpl.

Ride is similar, but road noise is another matter; Michelin Primacy 3 ST were certainly more silent.

How many Kilometers did the Michelin's last and for how many years?
I am contemplating between Michelin 4ST and UC6 hence asked.

Exactly my thought today on my way home from the tyre shop, which is 30 km away, after replacing my worn-out S.Drive with UC6. While the ride and noise level have improved significantly, the handling has become terrible. I can really feel the soft sidewalls flexing while taking corners. I'm really thinking of returning the tyres and getting MRF Perfinza or an S.Drive again. I know the UC6 is more of a comfort-oriented tyre, but expected a better balance between ride and handling than this.

Yes, Now the CC6 is a degree worse. At 80 KM on the expressway a moderate lane switch makes an air-suspension-ish feeling. Great news for the world now since I'm a much safer driver with this rubber. I got a quote to buy back and switch to Yokohama Earth 1. But i lose 14K cant afford it right now. Can never buy tires on recommendation. What's comfort for one is a nuisance for another
