Yokohama launches Earth 1 Max tyres

New Yokohama Earth1 Max- Upgraded/Improved version of Earth1

Hello all

While casually surfing the website of Yokohama India when I searched tyres for my Dad's WagonR, it showed two options, the first being the usual Earth1 but the another offering which piqued my interest were named as Earth1 Max, these claim having better mileage and lower rolling resistance capabilities than the Earth1, now I don't know when these have been launched by Yokohama India but I guess it's done recently since I don't recollect seeing these listed on their website a couple of weeks ago, if anyone has got these fitted some inputs would be really appreciated since I'm looking to upgrade my Dad's WagonR tyres to a fresh set of either Bridgestone Turanza 6i or these Yokohama Earth1 Max, had earlier crossed out the Earth1s cause most of the feedback concluded that these tyres become hard pretty soon and make a hell lot of road noise but these new Max have ignited my interest once again towards Yokos.

Yes. I recently changed tyres for my Ecosport. Confirmed with the vendor for Earth1 but when i went for change, he told it is Earth1 Max and charged Rs.200 more per tyre. There is no visible change except the sticker. The tyres still show Earth1 only.

Yes, the max seems a slightly updated version of Earth1 which mainly involves a better formulated compound I guess but still Yokohama does mention addition of minor grooves within the current grooves (groove in groove as they say) which improves the grip and handling characteristics of the tyres. Did you observe that?

Also, if possible please share some photographs of the new tyres, since it's always eye pleasing to see some fresh rubbers !

Thank you
Tony

So, does this Earth 1 Max fully replace the earlier Earth 1, just below the BluEarth GT AE51? If so, then Earth 1 Max might be ideal for compact crossovers and hatchbacks.

Yes it's a newer version of Earth1 and Yokohama has discontinued the earlier version as I'm not able to see them on their official website, also there's no visual markings on the tyres or any Max branding as such, just the sticker on the tyres indicate they're the newer version.

BluEarth anyways is a much more premium offering with perhaps slightly lesser mileage and higher pricing than Earth1 range, for those who seek lesser noise BluEarth is for them and for those who prefer longer tyre life Earth1 is for them, very similar to Bridgestone's Sturdo and Turanza range.

Thank you
Tony
