Tyre upgrade for Renault Kiger

Hello! Planning to upgrade the tyres on my Kiger.

Current size is 195/60 R16.
Want to upgrade to 215/60 R16.

Reason for this upgrade is better handling. Wider tyres also look better from the back and side. Don't want to go low profile as that will hamper ride quality as I will feel more of the road. Just want to change the width of the tyres.

Does this change make sense? Do I need to change the rims as well?

Re: Tyre upgrade for Renault Kiger

Don't do it. The Kiger has ~99 BHP on tap and the 195 mm patch is more than sufficient for the power. Upgrading to fatter tyres will actually make it slower and is unnecessary. If you really want to see an improvement, swap out the OEM tyres to Michelin / Yokohamas etc (but in the same size).

Keep in mind that's the wrong size. The "60" is not the sidewall height in mm, rather its the sidewall height as a percentage of the width. Therefore, you are wanting to replace tyres with a sidewall of 117 mm (60% of 195) with a sidewall of 129 mm (60% of 215).

Re: Tyre upgrade for Renault Kiger

Hi, I drive a Kiger CVT Turbo that has clocked 33k in 2.5 years. Could you please advise on the recommended kilometers for changing the tyres? Also, are there any specific models from Michelin or Yokohama that you’d recommend?
