Hi Guys,

I would like to upgrade my stock tyres (165/80 R14) for Swift VXi with ABS. However I don't want to go for a alloy or rim change. I am happy with stock rims.

do let me know, if I can change the tyres to 185/70 R14 on the original RIMS?

Also please do let me know, if it compromise the safety, in any manner?

Yup, you can upgrade to 185/70-14 without any issues.

No it won't affect the ABS in anyway. I have a couple of friends who did that. Just don't go for the ZXi tyres i.e. JK Vectras. There are much better options in the market. Look at michelin Energy XM1, Bridgestone Potenza G-III or Yokohama ES-100 whichever is available in that size. Don't go for a larger size than 185/70-14 as the rims cant support any wider tyres.

With that upsize hardly any effect on mileage. Not even 0.5kmpl. Your steering could feel a lot better.

O yeah too tall a profile for performance tyres. I'm really not sure which tyres are available in that size.

Bridgestone Turanza ER60

If you are on budget try the Acelere's too. Pretty nice tyres.
Else you always have what has been listed by vid.

And vid why not above 185's ? In any case, he doesn't want to change the stock rims. So don't you think the 195's are worth being considered ? Just my thought.

Two reasons
1. Stock rims are just wide enough to take 185's beyond which there's a risk of spoiling the car's handling. Being an ABS version its a strict NO.

2. 195/55-14 or some other odd size in 14" wont give u much tyre options.

Yes, I don't want to waste the the rims, if present stock rims can meet my requirement.
My choice would be 185/70 R14 and I am not on budget for decent set of tyres
Appreciate the comments from those who have already done this upgrade on stock rims.

Hello,..we both know this,so my post is for the thread starter.The swift rims can take wider tires .. im running 195 on swift rims on my baleno.Agreed the tires will bulge a little but there is absolutely no issues with regards to safety etc.Go in for the wider tire .. it wont be a bad choice especially if you plan on upgrading to alloys later.If you don't need the extra grip,stick to 185s
