Are these sold by Michielin dealers or is this size arranged privately? What price did you pay? I am looking for size 245/40/20 & 275/35/20 and guys in Delhi are asking around 1,70 lac for a set of 4 in Pilot Sports 4S and what's better Pilot Sports 4 or 4S?

17" is officially available. 225/45-17, 225/50-17, etc...

In 20", it must be a grey market import. Not sold officially by Michelin India if it is not listed on the Michelin India website.

PS4 is their "entry level sports tyre". It replaces the PS3.

PS4S is their "high end sports tyre". It replaces the Pilot Super Sports.

The Pilot Sports Cup 2 is grippier than the PS4S and is focused on track performance but is road legal.

The PS4S is one of the best tyres for supercars and high end luxury cars. The PS4S is not officially available in India.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 officially launched in India!

Hello, so Nikhil has pretty much explained it all. Over and above that I would like to add that of the range of PS4, PS4S and the PS Cup 2, the latter is extremely track focused and is only summer+dry weather compatible.

Since you asked about PS4S vs PS4 , the 4S is definitely much better, better grip and better overall road performance. Like nikhil pointed out, its currently one of the best overall tyres out there anywhere in the world currently.

I have personally paid 52K for the set of four PS4 tires from a local distributor of Michelin tyres. Coming from Run flats, this is worlds ahead in ride quality improvement, with only a slight drop in handling.

You wont get anything above the Pilot Sport 4 in India officially yet, which explains why they are asking 1.7 lacs for a set of PS4S as they’ll probably get it via grey market.

Yes they are better than PS4 but IMO not worth paying 2X-3X more over the PS4 in the context of driving on Indian roads. Buy the 4S if you absolutely need the added advantage, which may be in your case as you are looking at 20” size. The 4S is even more preferable at those sizes. However Completely avoid PSCup2 for road usage.

I highly suggest you go through this comparison. Its the best one yet of these three tyres.

Cheers

So what is the real life feedback on the PS4? Surprised no one is updating the thread!

Absolutely amazing, I got these changed on mine 7 and the ride is much quieter and it appears as if the suspension is changed. It just glides but mind you, this is in comparison with Pirelli P Zero Run flats. I haven't gone very fast yet but whatever speeds I did, definitely much better control.

Go for these even if it costs much more.

Edit - This feedback is for Pilot Sports -4 S - PS4S!

Re: The Michelin Primacy 4, now available in India

A new size has come into the market for the PS4 SUV- 255/50R20. Got them last month. Excellent tyres! Great grip and comfort too.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 officially launched in India!

Another tyre enthusiast. A big fan of Michelin tires. I replaced my Pirellis on my Audi A6 Quattro 3.0 supercharged sedan after 3000 miles I hated the Pirelli that came from factory. PS 4s are amazing tires. Highly recommend them

Yes but last time I checked in BLR, they were from a 2017 batch. I understand they are importing these from Thailand and are in short supply across India.

Wonder why they are bringing in some fresh stock of the PS4 directly.

I doubt PS4 will be available in this size, I believe they aren't available globally in this size anymore. From OE fitment point of view hardly any cars use this size (launched in the last decade). From a matching overall diameter point of view, most cars either use 205/55R16 or 225/45R17, with performance oriented models preferring 225/40R18 and upwards. In Europe I have seen PS3 of relatively new manufacture still being supplied as OE to some vehicles (PSA group ones), but again quite tough to get hold of this size in a performance compound.

Believe 205/55/16 is now available in PS4. Great news for Octavia & remaining Jetta owners. Absolutely fresh stocks and MRP is the standard 8.5K.

That's some good news. Honestly when the compound is as good as that of the PS4, I might consider downsizing our Laura from 225/50 to 205/55 R16. The wider tyres anyway are close to the limit for the stock rims and our car is still stock otherwise . Current tyres are Yoko Advan runflats which are ageing and close to the minimum tread depth, and before them a set of PS3s.

I have used PS4 in the 205/55 R16 size on a 1998 Alfa 156 I had till sometime before. The car has a quite capable suspension setup for its time (double wishbone at front, McPherson strut at the rear). Theoretically the setup meant that though the car rolled a bit due to softer springs, the tyre contact patch at front could be kept much better than other regular combinations. But tyre tech and grip levels achievable very different 20 years ago. The PS4s was just launched back then (circa 2017), I specifically got 205/55 16 PS4s (with a 94Y rating, which was unheard of till then in that size). The difference was amazing and many of the handling complaints in terms of understeer, steering feedback etc, which I had read in original reviews of the car was simply not there anymore.

Back to topic: A reason for going from 205/55 to 225/50 16 was to get a choice of performance compound and associated improvements in handling/braking. If we were to do an objective comparison of say a Laura vRS, on stock rims with a 225/50 16 PS3 and a 205/55 16 PS4, I would imagine the narrower PS4 might perform as good or even better than the wider PS3 overall.
