Team-BHP - Space Saver Spare Tyre for the BMW X1

Dear friends, I have been using an X1 for the last one year (9000km) on the stock RFTs. Its performing well and has not caused me a bother yet except a puncture due to a nail that was repaired using a normal tubeless repair. However, the psychological feeling to have a spare is always with me, so planning to get a spacesaver. I prefer not to go through the dealer which will anyway cost a bomb. Are there any options that you could suggest? As per specs the space saver for X1 is 135-80 R17. The bolt pattern is 5 x 120. Any options will be welcome.

Took the plunge today and bought a donut tyre and rim for my X1. Now I have lot of peace of mind. Did not buy the BMW jacking kit and the nylon cover for the tyre as they were quite expensive. I had tired jacking up the car yesterday with my Verna jack and it was easy. So, I will just go ahead and buy a standard jack and a wheel spanner. Also went to a local furnishing tailor to get a nylon cover made, will get it on Monday.
The pleasant surprise was that the rim is actually an alloy rim and not a steel one. The tyre is a Made in Germany Continental tubeless with a size 135 80 R17. The recommended pressure is an obscene 60 psi. Any idea why?
As expected, this does not rob too much of real estate in the boot, thankfully. In the event of the need to carry lot of luggage, I observed that removing the parcel tray really liberates lot of space.
Overall, I'm happy and more importantly there is a feeling of security. Future change of tyres can now be tubeless instead of RFT.

Pretty neat! Decent looking alloys too. Much better than the eye sore oem black steel rims that are now provided with most cars.

Important - How have you secured the alloy in the boot? Please ensure the spare is securely fastened/bolted to the boot floor/side to prevent it from becoming a flying projectile in the event of a collision.

Bought a 2 tonne Bottle Jack from Ebay. There were lot of locally made ones but thought of going for a branded one. Was a bit expensive but totally worth it. Its from Kennedy UK and comes in a nice plastic box and fits well into a cavity in my X1 boot. Tried lifting the car and it was a breeze. Also got a good quality wheel spanner from the local tyre wallah. So, I'm good to go now with the feeling of a normal car as far as the punctures go clap:

Full size spare is out of question. It will eat up most of the vertical space as the full size is a 225 section 17". The space saver is a 135 section 17".

Space saver for f30 is available for 26500/- here at Gurgaon dealer. You can confirm the same with your dealer too.

I bought it from the BMW dealer in Bangalore - Navnit Motors. The price was 17600 for the alloy rim and tyre. I did not buy the cover and jack kit

I haven't had a puncture in the last 2.5 years, so did not use it in the real world. But, when I had bought it, I used it on the X1 just to see how it works. Since its hydraulic, it did not need much effort to raise the car and it was able to sustain the weight. Did not have to fill oil or anything. Maybe its to be refilled if there is a leak of some sort.
