What do you look for, when you choose new tyres?

It'd be interesting to see why people choose to buy a certain tyre when they upgrade.

PS : U can vote for multiple options. Just choose the options that affect your purchase.

i just got new tyres today...

performance in terms of grip, sidewall strength mattered to me the most..beacuse of the really low profile.

next was durability as tyres that ware out soon need constant replacement way before they go bald to get a RWC (roadworthy certicficate) here..

rather than going for looks...not that it wouldn't hurt..

This is how i rated them (in order of importance)
1. Performance
2. Durability
3. Economy
4. Looks
5. Comfort

1. Road Grip at any speed. High speed stability is a must.

2. Wet weather compatability - tread pattern should ensure quick drainage and prevent hydroplaning because I enjoy wet weather driving.

3. Tyre noise (v v important)

4. Ability to take punishment (bad roads)

5. Tread wear (wont get certified if the tyre has < 70% of original tread)

6. Comfort

Looks dont matter - I'd rather have non-descript looking tyres that keep me alive than have snazzy looking rubber and be injured or dead.

when i bought new tires for my accent, i chose to buy michelin tubeless as i thought michelin was a good brand, i only upgraded from 175 to 185 leaving rest as same as i did not want to compromise on the smoothness of the ride.

i wanted tires which would have a good grip on any kind of road and i think i m not repenting my decision to choose michelin at all.

for me its performance first, be it on dry/wet tarmac or on dirt/garvel/slush!
second is looks, coz imho, good performance should also appear good!!

durability do plays a crucial role in selecting a tyre but it remains low in priority.

Performance comes first taking more than 70% of my decision, then looks and then price. Comfort and economy can be average. Noise, I really dont care because you really cant hear anything with the music up!

I use a Potenza GIII , not very good on tyre life but grip levels are exceptionally great considering they are just everyday use tyres. I could really feel it sticking liking glue in corners , though look wise GIII is one of teh worst . It doesnt look as wide as a similarly sized V pattern threaded tyre. It doesnt feel very confedent at speeds above 100 on wet surface especially while sudden deceleration . I am talking about 195 sec tyre... 195 / 65 R14

Grip levels at all speeds and good cushioning effect is one really tough ask , no noise at any speed and at competetive price ...I guess right now only Apollo accelere can come close to your needs......

Looks are secondary.
