That was an intereresting article. It calls out harsher ride as a con.

Sometimes I wonder, why would some people accept a harsher ride every single moment, as a tradeoff for an event that might occur once in a few years.

Hey the Bridgestone runflats on my X3 are done! Came close to the expected 20k kms mark. Now I really want to swap them out for some nice tubeless tyres. Michelin India website says only latitude sport 3 is available in 245/50/19 size. Shockingly none of the dealers here have it and they are all unanimous in their claims of not having any tubeless options in this size!! I could only find the Apollo aspire 4g plus in this size. Is this really the case? Are there really no decent tubeless options in 245/50/19 size?

I’m also getting Michelin latitude sports at 255/50/19 . I know difference is within the acceptor range of 2 percent. My car has warranty for another 3 years. Will it be an issue if I choose a tyre size that’s not recommended by the manufacturer? I know changing to tubeless from runflats won’t cause any issue after speaking to the bmw service team.

In my last visit to the workshop, the service advisor told that two of my tires have gone below 3mm so need to be replaced. I currently have a X1 with 18k kms.

1. I currently moved them to the rear but is it still a risk to keep using them
2. Is it normal to have this wear and tear so early.
3. Is it better off to replace all 4 with non RFT and what are the options
4. Navnit motors is charging 40k per tire, is it better to buy from elsewhere?

Am up for a tyre change now. Just about 30k on the ODO now, Rear tyres have come to the wear-indicator mark, front's have some tread left but I am going to get all 4 changed. (this is the BMW 3GT)

Am looking for 225/50 R18 and RFT -- so I don't have much choice other than Pirelli P7 & Conti SC6 (this is the stock tyre too)

Any feedback on P7 here?

Vehicle is used predominantly for highway runs. no city runs.

Not safe to rotate and run now. Better to replace.
Non RFT you got plenty of options - Michelin #1 there
Do not buy the tyres at Navnit.

I really want to swap from runflats to regular tubeless but might end up getting runflats due to unavailability in the size required.

I just went with Bridgestone runflats. Just couldn’t find any tubeless tyres in this size.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti unavailable? Tubeless would have given a much more smoother ride without loss in handling.

And I went for the Pirelli Cinturato P7's at Tyre Professionals! Lucky me, got the 0223 batch!

How safe is it to repair punctures on a runflat using the regular puncture repair strip?
Recently got new tyres. While changing the tyres was shocked to see the condition of tyres from inside. Two tyres on which puncture was repaired had huge cracks spreading from the point of puncture repair.

Does this mean we cannot repair punctures on run flat tyres or is it something wrong which the puncture repair technique?

Sidewall puncture, as it bears load, flexes and has a different construction than the wearing top tread surface. It can (should) not be repaired safely even for tubeless. Strict no for RFTs. Related thread for details.

I went for Michelin PS3 ZP from Tyre Professional. Changed all 4 and finding the ride significantly better and quieter than the stock Bridgestone. Thanks for the recommendation.
