Finally i took the decision and put these tires today, and boy am i happy

145/70/R12
4 tubeless tires
Rs. 6600/-
Rs.1650/- per tire

No regrets. I just hope it lasts that promised 40,000 kms as quoted by the dealer.

Drove it 30 kms today,

1) Tread pattern is good enough
2) Tire noise is low,
3) Steering feel is lovely,
4) Grip levels in wet is something i am not still sure about, will update as the tire settles in.
5) Ride comfort is good too
6) Price is to die for

All in all, i cant be more happy since, i have always gone in for expensive Tires with terrible results.

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

Any idea what different sizes are they available here in the market ? Did you see any 14 or 15 inch ones in the shops?

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

Kelly is available in the following sizes and designs as of date :

145/70/R12 - Goodyear GT770+ (now defunct)
145/80/R12 - Goodyear G28 (now defunct)
165/65/R13 - Goodyear GT3
175/80/R14 - Goodyear wrangler DT (now defunct)
195/70/R14 - No info
205/65/R15 - No info
215/75/R15 - No info

For the prices, you'll have to get in touch with a local dealer. But before anyone jumps at the lucrative prices, remember this : Goodyear does not provide any sort of warranty on these tyres from their end. If you are offered a warranty it is at the sole discretion of the dealer you're buying it from.

Goodyear is slowly phasing out it's GPS2 range from the market too, it has begun with 145/70/12 and 145/80/12 (M800 & Van) If you look at the last pic posted by Pavan, the sticker reads Kelly - VFM1 (Value for money) My guess is, since they have the moulds for these phased out patterns lying around, it makes economic sense for them to still churn out these tyres - brand them differently and make some money in the process.

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

Since the time I have had my pre-owned 800 (close to 4-5 months now) the ride has always been very hard; always felt like I was riding a horse. Numerous visits to the mechanic did not help much and I was advised to change the rear tyres and see, as all other things seemed pretty much sorted out.

I wanted to take a second opinion and called up Mr Volkswagen (Pavan Kadam), who suggested resetting the suspension blades over the weekend. I thought fair enough, lets wait till the weekend.

But, the long drives between home and office for two continuous days plus the usage over the weekend started to give me a really bad backache and I wanted to get the tyres today, NO MATTER WHAT. Also, since this car is not a daily drive, I started looking around for a cheap and best option.

After speaking to Pavan Kadam again, he directed me to Kelly Tyres. Though my first reaction was, is it a China tyre, Kadam educated me that it's infact from a US manufacturer and GoodYear is handling it's operations in India. And at the said price, I really felt it was a good deal.

Similar to 'Indian Wife and American Salary', this was 'US item at China price!!!'

I did a bit of market research this morning and nothing came close.
- The cheapest tyre at Madhus was MRF at Rs 2200
- Another tyre shop on the same road had Ceat tyres for Rs 1900.

Tried to finish office early and walked into the shop mentioned by Pavan. He initially quoted a price of RS 1800. After some haggling and bargaining (got him to speak to Pavan as well, on the phone ), he dropped the price to Rs 1600. Since the tyre fitters nearby were closed, I got it fitted near my house.

Now, a bit that had me surprised -
The rear nylon tyres on my car were of 1988 year make, that makes them 24 years old. No this is not the surprising bit. The surprising bit is, one of the tube was torn beyond repair, but the tyre was so hard that it still held the air!!!

The ride of these tyres are way better than the STONE tyres that my car were earlier shod on.
I would probably be able to understand the ride much better in a few days.
Lastly, a special thanks to Pavan.

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

I have also opted Kelly tyres for my wagon R rear pair. It's 165-65 R13. I got it for 2100per tyre from Kottayam Kerala. Same story even I also got from the dealer saying it's from Goodyear and a usual Made in India tyre and will last longer. Cannot tell now about the comfort level and all as I use it for local drives only. Looks good anyways but I think it will be a Vale for money if I'm right. Is there anyone who can share logn term reviews?

Anyone has newer experiences with these tyres? A friend is looking at Kelly for his beater car.

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

I had been debating using Kelly 185 70R14 for my 2010 Swift P with HRS alloys (45K kms) which had Yoko A Drives. My car is mostly drive in Bangalore city only (very rare highway trips, once in 1-2 years). Also, I will likely change the car in 1-2 years, no driving anyway for another 8-9 months due to Covid, hence was thinking of saving money.

It is made by Goodyear but seems to be of inferior quality. I did a lot of research and finally decided against it by reading reviews for US tyres here:https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires...t=1%20Star&p=3

I went with Yoko Earth 1 185/70 from Amazon (cost only 3315 per tyre after 15% off) and the delivery is expected tomorrow!

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

Guys, any first hand experience / further update on Kelly Tyres?

I'm looking out for replacing tyres for my 2008 Alto. Since I use the car just for local use (within 3-4kms radius), I don't intend to spend much.

Also, are there any reviews on online tyre-sellers like tyresnmore.com ?

Cheers!

Re: Kelly Tyres - How good / bad are they?

My Brio came with JK Vectra tyres (175/65/14) in December 2013 and covered around 28000 kms till now. Due to passage of time, tyres got minor cracks in side areas so decided to change. I wanted to check Kelly tyres so changed only two tyres to see how these perform. I went for tyresnmore service. It was good experience.

Before booking, I asked them manufacturing year and they assured that I will get 2022 make tyres. I got not only same year but also same month manufactured tyres, i.e. April 2022.

Amount paid was 6800 (including 200 for fitting). Service was quick. I have driven just some couple of kms after change and so far they are good.

Any New tyre will feel "good" - basically, better than the old tyres. It's only after extended use that one can say if the tyres are actually good.

How was your overall experience in terms of grip and tyre noise?
