Re: Tire Upsize for Nissan Micra / Renault Pulse

Nice wheels! How much for the new tyres? How much did they buy the stock tyres for?

I think he got it for 4900/ tyre. Old one ran 1000plus and hence got only 7500Rs. Got the new tyres from Global ( thanks to Muneem)

Re: Tire Upsize for Nissan Micra / Renault Pulse

Have put ContiEcoContact 3s of the size 185/64 R14 for my Micra petrol. The Maxxis MA-307s were absolute rubbish, and that was confirmed when I got scrap value for them on buyback. Am satisfied with the tyres, let's see how they perform under hard driving.

Typre + alloys for Nissan Micra

Am a bit of a noob when it comes to cars so please bear with me.

Basically have a Micra XV petrol and want to upgrade both the rims and all 5 tyres.

Currently have R14 steel rims and want to get alloys. Tyre size is 165/70 which is an odd tyre size. Probably will want to get 175/65 which is much more common.

Ground clearance is very low so would installing 15 inch alloys be a better option to get a few extra mm ?

Friends are suggesting Michellin tyres but I am not finding the 175/65 option on their website. The closest I can see is 185/65/70.

Re: Tyre Upsize for Nissan Micra / Renault Pulse

I own a Nissan Micra diesel XV Premium which came with 175/60 R15.
Done 50,000 KMS. Thinking of replacing them with 175/65 R15.
This will give a little more ground clearance, do I have to do any extra for fitting 175/65 R15 and what will be the effect on the car if I go with 175/65 R15.
Thank you and appreciate comments.

Hello Jkdas,
Any update on the car and the tires now that you have used for a couple of years. Did any issue come up with respect to suspension or steering rod?

We were contemplating an upgrade for our Nissan Micra cvt.

There will be no extra fittings required. The new tyres (175/65 R15) would fit on to your existing rims.

Visit the below link for comparison of tyre sizes and the resultant speedo meter error

I suggest to reconsider the tire size for CVT. Either live with the OE spec or switch to 185 section width. CVT already has a considerable rubber band effect and upsize to 195 section width will further reduce the performance.

Re: Tyre Upsize for Nissan Micra / Renault Pulse

I've been using Michelin XM2 175/65 R14 on my Nissan Micra XV diesel for 50000+ kms after replacing the stock Maxxis 165/70 R14 which had run for 40000 odd kms. The current tires would need replacement in another 5000 kms or so.

Should i stick to the current spec or switch back to 165/70? I had switched over to 175/65 as 165/70 was not available from Michelin/Yokohama in 2014. XM2s have been silent and served us with good grip without compromising on fuel efficiency but i can try out Yoko this time. Suggestions please

The price of XM2 175/65 R14 as of Nov 2016 is 4250 rupees / piece; don't know the current price of the Yoko but I guess it would be in the same region as the Michelin.

Unless and until you face any issues with current spec (technical / commercial or availability) don't go back to OE spec. 175/65R14 is any day better than 165/70R14, though it is hardly a couple of mm smaller.

To my knowledge, stock tires were MRF.

The current specs 175/65 R14 Michelin XM2 is best option for Micra.
Please stick to the same.

Earlier Micra came with Maxxis tires and MRF replaced the same later.
IIRC they were imported from Thailand.
