Should be 5.5" as it is the ideal rim width for 185, which is the OE tyre width.

re: Maruti Ertiga : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi All,
Is it ok, if only front two tires are upgraded to 205/55/16 & retain the stock size 195/55/16 for the rear two? Will it cause any problem?

Ertiga's stock size is 185/65R15. Are you referring to Ertiga or a different car?

AFAIK, it is not advisable to run different tyre sizes in ABS+EBD equipped vehicles as it could potentially lead to unexpected bahavior while braking. The OEM tuning and configuration in the ECU would be assuming same tyre size and hence not sure how the behavior with different tyre sizes would be in case of a scenario where ABS kicks in.

I am referring to Verna Fludic 1.6 CRDI, stock 195/55/R16. Seems like that I have to wait further to replace all four. Have done 27k on stock tyres till now.

Please note the thread title before posting. It is evident you have joined Team BHP in 2005. Being an old member, you should be aware of posting guidelines, before asking for Verna tyres in Ertiga tyre upsize thread !!!

Be it any passenger car, all four tires should have the same specs.

Mixing two different sizes is not advisable.

Agree for Front Wheel Drive cars. Some RWD cars might need different tyre sizes in front and rear for better/safer handling.

Even the Nano comes with two sizes for front and rear for the same reason.

Agreed.
Manufacturer's specs are always reliable.
What i meant, is, getting 2 different sizes as an aftermarket fitment is not advisable.

I bought Hankook 205 / 60 R15 tires Excellent road grip. ( Durability long term issues unknown)
The ride quality has improved considerably. So is cornering abilities. Feels rock solid road grip with lots of confidence boost.

Tire noise is slightly more than usual but not bothersome. They're cheaper than Yokohama. Recommended from my side.

had to pay 11k including Wheel balancing and alignment.
I was in a hurry didn't bother much on bargaining.

Can you please post pictures of your Hankook tires. I was of the opinion that Hankook tires are for large SUVs and are available in the plus 16 inch category only.

Tyre Experts - What's the best tyre upgrade for Ertiga VXi? 195/60 R15 (or) 205/55 R15 (or) 205/60 R15? I know Michelins are the best for ride comfort. The Michelin Primacy LC on my Ritz is excellent but doesn't have an interesting tread pattern.
