Got new alloys and tyres for my Swift about a week back. Here are the details and the photos.

Alloys-
Brand: Darwin Racing (Taiwan made)
Size: 14" x 6J
Price: 3450 x 4 = Rs.13,800
Wheel nuts: Rs.1500
Balancing: Rs.400

Tyres-
Brand: Yokohama A-Drive
Size: 185/70/R-14
Price: 3450 x 4 = Rs.13,800

Where?
Tyres - Shree Tyres (Lalbagh Road)
Alloys - Car Shringar (Mission Road)

(Resisted myself from going for 15'' alloys and 195/60/R-15 profile. Maybe next time.)

That is a really awesome set of Rims. Good to know they supply Wheel nuts as well. All Wheel manufacturers should do that!!

Hey those are nice set of alloys, great choice!!

@Cyrus43: The wheel nuts (locks to be precise) could be bought separately for 1500. In pune at least we could get a set of 16 nuts and a special spanner to unscrew them for that price

Nice set of wheels, though this pattern looks better if the wheels have slight negative offset.

Whats with the extra price of nuts? Either the stock nuts should serve the purpose and in case those are not fitting, seller should bear the cost of new nuts.

@Mtorque: Such prices are de riguer for these Imported chinese/taiwanese wheels, even Neo wheels retails at more or less at same price.

True, @anilisanil. You have a choice when buying nuts for your alloys. The simple ones cost Rs.750 (as quoted by the dealer).

I don't remember the brand I opted for, but the dealer said that they are high quality stuff and most auto-parts guys in Bangalore don't have this brand (he didn't reduce even a paisa on the price).

I also had the choice of choosing red nuts, but decided against it, as I thought it would be too much of red, since the rim strips are already red.

"Either the stock nuts should serve the purpose and in case those are not fitting, seller should bear the cost of new nuts."

Really? I always thought that these nuts were a separate buy!

Hi Sidd

I have NHC 2007, i am ugrading the tyres. Let me know your experience with those tyres on your NHC, any issues with braking, suspension / shocks, etc. What is the offset of the alloys on your car.

One last Q - Dont you think the tyre size (195/60 R15) is a bit overrr size.

An Update!

Hey folks,

I was not satisfied with the way the 14" alloys changed the look of my Swift. (Somehow I didn't like the alloys after just a few days of using them. It's majorly the look factor being considered here.)

So, I upgraded to 15" alloys yesterday.

Here is a picture of what I have put. Will upload the pictures of the car soon. Now, the look of the car (enhanced by the 15'' ers) is fantastic and according to my liking.

@Dolphin - I'm a fan of 7 spoke alloys, your choice of 15" is good. Please update us on how much it costed you to change from 14" to 15", you should have changed the tyres too with depreciation.

Prices in Banglaore seems on par with Chennai. Last weeknd I had enquired about Yoko 185/70 R14, they cost about Rs 3500 here.

Details about the upgrade

Hi all,

Here are the details of my upgrade to 15" alloys (and tyres). This upgrade left a deep hole in my pocket considering that I upgraded just 10 days after opting for 14 alloys with new tyres. Your second hand maal has no value in the market and that too if you are in a hurry you will get peanuts.

Details:

Alloys-
Brand: Raiden by Lenso
Model: Light S4
Size: 15"x7J
Price: 5500 x 4 = Rs.22000

Tyres-
Brand: Yokohama A Drive
Size: 195/60/R15
Price: 3950 x 4 = Rs.15800

Others-
Balancing: Rs.400
Wheel hub painting: Rs.500
Hub centric rings (4): Rs.1500

Where?
Car Shringar – JC Road

Buyback price of my 14” alloys and tyres: Rs.15500

The day I upgraded to 15" alloys, I just got them fit and didn't check whether they were resting on the wheel hub or not. The next day I checked and found that there was a big gap between the hub and the alloy wheel's center bore.

I just couldn't live/drive with that gap existing; whether it produces vibrations at high speed or not.

So, I went to Car Shringar the next day informed him that I need hub centric rings. He didn't have them but said he will get them made for me and they should be ready the next day.

I went the next day, the rings were ready and got them fitted. I actually didn't like the quality of workmanship (hub centric rings).

I have posted pics of the gap that existed between the wheel hub and the alloy's inner bore, then the pics of the hub centric rings placed on the hub/alloy inner bore and then the alloys on the car.

For more information about hub centric rings refer - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...oy-wheels.html

These alloys look awesome in real than in photos.

Re: Details about the upgrade

@Dolphin: Is the gap due to wrong PCD? Then I guess you will have trouble during high speed runs.
