I thought they're made out of plastic.

The blue is plastic, that is the top, but the actual cap is metal, i think. even if it is not, the chrome is peeling off from this cap. my wheels are great though.

No, that whole cap is plastic and chrome plating can peel off. You can however paint them once they start looking bad.

The blue cap is plastic and it won't rust. The outer ring of the blue cap is chrome coated which can catch rust.
The plastic doesn't rust its the chrome coat (low quality) on top of it which gets rusted.

Thanks, John!

The hub-cap thing on mine is plastic too. All 4 are fine, no chrome peeling off, etc.

Ok, I will try cleaning the damn plastic & see if it can shine, else i have to get it painted. I guess the weather conditions too contribute to this.

Italian/German Replica 17X8 inch Avantgard design Rs. 45K for 4 & Goodyear 245/45/17....She used to ride very well...no stiffness as we chose to have 45 profile higher sidewall area/profile tyres to creat more cushioned ride...as you can see there is no real difference in ride height and..I got these fitted in early 2004 which was one of the first set of W211 replicas wheels the importer got into the country..sadly had to let her go miss her may go in for another one soon
