I am guessing it's a problem with the road. The roads on NH22 can throw nice surprises at you.

Re: Super Fast trip to Sangla and Chitkul

Just when we reached near matiana, car started jerking, though not that bad. but it was a bad sign. because this problem almost screwed our return journey from Agra.

I stopped the car a bit and did the ECU reset. a 30 min of photo break and ECU reset helped and car came back to normal. But this was a serious problem as we had yet not crossed the worst and remote part.

anyways we decided to take a break at hotel Hatu, narkanda and think about it. Moment we entered narkanda, that problem re-surfaced. Now I was really worried and trip was in trouble.

Re: Super Fast trip to Sangla and Chitkul

we ordered late lunch at the hotel and decided to do a self check of the car. There is nothing wrong visibly. No light flashing on Dashboard. engine temperature normal. RPM is fine. idle RPM moving up fine on accelerating. This is weired, anyways we did another ecu reset and checked all we can.

By now I had observed that this problem has something to do with constant long drive and goes off with a break of 30 mins. anyways we had to take a call, but first its food.

we were hungry and food was ready so decide to talk about it later. Food at hotel Hatu is ok and costly as usual.

After lunch, i started the car and circled in parking area, no problem. so I decided to take the risk. but we decided to drive straight to sarhan with very less stops.

Unfortunately moment we left Narkanda, condition of road worsened and I could not go beyond 20km/hr for next 25 km. this was the worst part of the trip.

after that it was smooth, we crossed rampur by 4:00 Pm. Car was ok till now, but the happines was short lived. just before Jeori, again same problem, and this time it was bad. even break of 20 min did not helped.

we decided to find a hotel at jeori and take a night break. we had to take call in the morning. should we take our car ahead. Or parked it somewhere and hire a taxi.

But before that we needed a budget hotel. It was already dark, and could not find any visible hotel boards.

while Solanki and Vinod went out to search for a hotel, I decided to do some jugglery with the car mechanicals.

Re: Super Fast trip to Sangla and Chitkul

The road east of Narkhanda continues to be bad? Is this normal at this time of the year because I have always seen that stretch of NH22 being very good till Rampur at least?

Very curious to know how you diagnosed and solved the car problem! Never knew cars get tired of long-distance drives!!

Generally the section from theog to Narkanda is always in bad condition. Beyond Narkanda was surprise.

Regarding car, these remained mystery till I returned back got it checked at MASS

Re: Super Fast trip to Sangla and Chitkul

we managed to get a cheap hotel at jeori, and it was cheap, both on price and quality. Anyways we had no choice as I decided against taking any more risk for the day.

We took food and then slept like cats. I was little tried after that long drive. fortunately weather was cool, Half of my tiredness goes away with cooler weather .

I woke up pretty early morning and took a hot water bath and I was all ready by 5:00 Am, Solanki and Vinod also got ready quickly.

I started the car, no issues, no fuss, started in first crank. Kept it running and then went back to room to pack up. while other guys were getting ready, I took few shots.

As this day was a relaxed day with lots of stop and breaks, I decided to take more risk with car, by 6:30 Am, we left hotel and moved towards karcham.

10 minutes to our drive, we found a family of shepherd with a very active kids. we decide to stop and took few shots there.

ECU reset , remove the battery terminal for 5 min. its done.

@rkbharat : Was there still snow at Hatu peak. The peak is clearly visible from the garden. Nice shots. Keep it coming. As for car stalling the symptoms are pointing to Ignition coil or plugs.

Remove the +ive terminal of the battery for 5 mins, tight back the terminal, Insert the key and move to ignition on position, remember do not crank, wait for 30 sec.

bring back to On position. and then crank. Once in idle, do not press accelerator for some time

We skipped Hatu peak.

Regrading problem, as i was getting it after a constant drive of 200 Km, and this problem never came in city.

Problem was altogether different, when they opened the Fuel Pump, there was a jelly kind of substance choking the filter just placed below the pump. I will explain what was happening and cause of it later

Re: Super Fast trip to Sangla and Chitkul

Beautiful Pictures Rajiv. Chitkul is one place we all wanted to go back when we did our Leh trip in 2009. The sights and emotions are so strong in our minds till now.

We even tricked our HVK to wait for us while we walked around the place like we were in paradise.

Eventually this made HVK to do his non stop driving to Mumbai from Chitkul.

Beautiful pictures. Post a lot of chitkul.

Yes, so tempting a place that we are going there again this summer, and have set aside a day for a small trek.
