@Pavan, this place was actually discovered by Rudra and Jaggu, we guys started using this place for car shoots much later, in fact we even had a Tbhp car shoot meet here long ago.

@kittigadu - wonderful pictures! Looking at the pics first thing came to my mind is serengeti grasslands of Tanzania, especially the 08th pic.

@pavan_kadam - the 2nd pic of your bug is a classic pic of a classic car, beautiful. Your garage is quite unique.

Thanks for that route guide! Helps perfectly. I was initially thinking of the taking the Doddaballapur SH and then branch off at "Shreyas Retreat" (which I saw in Google Maps), cross the railway crossing and then head to Hessarghatta village.

May be try one this way and be back the other way!

Also how hit this place from NH7 (Bellary Road)? Should one go through GKVK?

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

Well this place has quite a bit to offer and every season the terrain changes from dry grass to greener pastures. A few of us had done a photo-shoot here back in 2008 and I had put up a thread : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...ddy-forum.html .

Truly the masai mara of India, have had a wonderful time here shooting some brilliant pictures. One of them even made it to Wikipedia.

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

The places around Hesaragahtta has always been beautiful. I fondly remember we going there for picnics as kids thirty years ago. If you are there during the months of May/June, you can see the beautiful blooms of Flame of the forest (Mutthuga in Kannada)which are fairly dispersed around Nrityagram/ Hesragahhata area. The semi dry bed of Hesraghatta lake also has some nice wild flowers.

A good place to explore on bicycle as well.

After exploration, Taj Kuteeram is a good place to chill out

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

Guys, how is the access to this place from Nelamangala? Is it good to take the Nelamangala-Doddaballapur road and then branch off in between.

Google maps show this route:

NICE Junction to Hesaraghatta

I know there is straight route (show in the below link), but I think it would be difficult to wade through that area. It would be easier to get on to the Elevated Toll road and then take the SH.

Nice Junction to Hesaraghatta (Shorter Route)

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

Ampere, Take the shorter route. You dont have to go up to Nelamagala.

Do you have any route guide for the same?

Because its to get on the toll road and drive to Nelamangala and take the SH may be less cluttered. (Thought its double the distance from NICE junction).

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

@ampere: come back till the point marked in map T Dasarahali, take left from there - there is a black glass building at the corner - though it comes after the road from the side you are approaching.
