Probably the tribal ladies in the forest area are probably in a more safe enviornment than the ladies in the large cities. There are many in-human 2 legged animals in these large cities, that might be the reason for the increased dependence in the urban areas.
Anyway disclaimer saved me today.
We had already thought that the day was coming to an end, it was not so.
197 We started our climb back towards the safari vehicle
198 Dil hai ki manta nahin : heart is not willing to come out of this paradise
199 we again pass through the tribal settlement, one can see the use of bamboo everywhere possible
200 Natural bathrooms again made up of Bamboo walls
201 Narrow pathway leading to several Home Sweet Homes
202 DIH TV has made it's presence felt
203 So is the Solar Energy
204 Electricity is not far behind i suppose
205 This route goes back towards Parambikulam village
206 Parting picture from the boating point
We again thought the day might have ended, but not so
207 Soon we reached this place
208 This is another dam, i was told there are 4 such dams
209 I wished i could walk there
210 We were at Parambikulam Aliyar Dam
211 Team having a nice time, hats of to the enegy levels of the kids
212 some views of the waterbody and the landscapes
213 Some mother daughter moments
214 a panaromic view of the surroundings
215 SUN was setting a wonderful background
216 soon we got into the vehicle
217 and reached Parambikulam village for some Tea
218 we tried some local stuff with the local tea..made for each other
While having a cup of tea we looked around
219 Parambikulam is a literate village
220 Parambikulam Signature tower
221 Parambikulam Information office
222 Attractions of the Parambikulam village. Economy seems to be dependent on the forest produce, agriculture, probably fishing and most importantly wildlife tourisim
223 After the tea session, we were taken to the tiger all for Tribal Symphony
I do not have any pictures of the Tribal Symphony which is nothing but the tribal women dancing to the drum beats by the tribal men.
For the first time i saw women dancing to the beats of men, in the so called modern world roles have long back been reversed (with some pun intended)
More over i also saw the dancing group consisting of young girls to ladies of the house to the the older (appeared to be bereaved) women. In the so called civilized world, people put lot of restrictions on older women in indulging singing and dancing.
More over every dance presented by the group really showed their passion for their culture and artform, joy in enacting the same after a long and hard day and pride about themselves being able to capture so many eye balls.
A true performace, i would say. I was busy enjoying the dances, camera was busy with shooting the video (~400 mb x 4 dances), so i do not have any pictures of this tribal symphony.
After approx 45 minutes of performance, the tiger hall reverbarated with the clapps of appreciation. Several people (inclduing our team) showed the group some appreciation in the form cash as well. There was a polite and heart felt "thank you" in corus from these tribals while accepting the token of appreciation. I would say, the performance was worth much more than what we had paid for.
Soon we boarded the vehicle, and it started going back towards our place of stay for the night i.e. annapady.
The Guide instructed everyone that they should not use thier flash while taking the pictures. Soon there was a different world.
Forest at the night is actually more beautiful than what it looks like during the day. It is more dangerous as well. It is survival of the fittest there, more so during the night.
We were again shown several animals including bisons, deers, moneys, boars etc. I sincerely applaud the ability of these guys to spot those animals in the pitch dark surroundings.
The prized catch was this leopard. We had actually gone some 10-15 meters further, then the vehicle was reversed and the guide pointed the flash light on to this beauty.
224 The Leopard, the fastest predator on the earth as of now
I could not get a clean shot due to vibrations of the vehicle as well as excitement of having seen a leopard in the open jungle for the first time in my life. Kids were super silent, probably due to the fear factor.
225 Further we spotted another Sambar
Soon the vehicle reached Anapady probably by 7 PM. We took shower and freshened up. Hot water gyser really provided the relief to the tired body. We all had a quiet dinner and later on retired for the day.
It was simply an outstanding day for us. probably the longest one as well. We never knew so much can happen in one day. The moment we hit the bed, we were in our dreams.
