Re: Trip to Maranello/Modena - Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani @artofzen,
the Zonda is now replaced by the Huayra in the factory/showroom.
took the factory tour. very interesting to see the attention to detail and the emphasis on design. one can spend hours observing every tiny detail. saw the production and the pride with which the artists (that's how one can call them) put together the carbon fibre sheets to form the symmetry and continuity regardless of the car being painted or left naked.
saw 2 Zonda R's in the R&D section. there is always some new development on these car which can then be kitted onto existing cars.
Pagani now has a new factory a lane away from the existing. this is part of expansion of production as well as to cater to more existing customers for servicing and upgrade.
Apparently more and more Zonda customers are opting for the upgrade pkgs and Pagani is more than happy to cater to them.
The service bay can hold 3 cars. there were 2 Zonda's and 1 Huayra for service.
1 of the Zonda was a one-off Zonda 760 LM from Andorra. this one customer has 3 other Zonda it seems.
the other 7 bays are for assembling Huayra's.
one more Zonda was outside waiting for its upgrade parts.
just when we got back to factory and I got busy looking at the Merchandise, I heard a cracking exhaust. it was the matte grey Audi RS6 which belonged to Davide - the chief test driver.
he stormed into the factory and drove out a customer delivery car for its final test drive. this one was bound to Hong Kong.
I then left for my visit to Lamborghini Factory + Museum visit. will post pix later.
I have already covered Ferrari factory and Museum visit last year. skipped it this yr.
