Goodbyes and Back to the Madness!!

After tea and snacks on Saturday evening (and of course lightening or pockets a bit), off we went back to Mumbai

On Shyams advise, we took the forest road off SH60 just before Tamhini, towards Bhira dam and then on to Pali temple town and then Pali Khopoli road

The Pali Khopoli road is in the worst condition I have ever seen it on being on it in the last 15 years. It is absolutely pathetic. Worse than even the SH60 and 93

Be warned against taking this road until it is fixed. if and when it is...

From then on to Khopoli, Shil Phata and NH4 back to Mumbai

All in all a great trip and completely worth it

Re: Good Heavens!!What a Location (Kundalika River, Kolad, Maharashtra)

Great thread Rohit.

I have been rafting to Kundalika river an more than a few occasions. One can safely say those guys almost recognize me there. Its a great place especially in the rains and if ure lucky (in this season you dont need luck even) you will be greeted by a constant shower on your trail.

In the rains, the location is like a mini Amazon river with lush forest surrounding you and the highlight is the last two or three kms where the river gently flows downwards and where they allow you to take a dip in the river. Bliss i tell you. I have a few pics from there which i will upload on this thread to make readers know what this place is all about. Dont have that many action pics but i guess will upload whatever one has.

One great thing to look forward to is at the end of the trail, the hot tea and batatawada/vada pav one can get from the vendors there. A must do in the rains.

The home stay place is a revelation. Please let us know the contact numbers or any website through which we might be able to make this booking. It would be a great idea staying back rather than the grueling drive to and fro. The kilometers are not than many but the bad bad roads make up for the time you would have saved, had the roads been better.

Do the home stay guys organize your rafting trip or does that have to be done separately through one of the various companies that run the show there?

Re: Good Heavens!!What a Location (Kundalika River, Kolad, Maharashtra)

Hey Gogi

We must do this together. Shyam and Sarita have a tie up with the rafting guys. And when you are done, you just have to walk a few steps home!!

The house is nice and the food is good. The bathrooms could have been a bit better kept. The only fly in the ointment. Otherwise everything is good

Lets do this sometime these monsoons. Shyam can take us to do some light off roading as well. And oh yes the place is lush. Really fabulous. My daughter still remembers and asks to be taken to Phoebe's place (dog )

Cheers

Hope I am seeing you at the Great Escape tomorrow. Steiger and Ferdi both bringing their Classic's
