Around Anchetti

There is more option which can be tried.

From Attibele take the Rayakottai route till the point which joins the Hosur-Denkanikottai road.

Not sure how is that road?

I have seen lots of real estate development happening on that road.

Plus looks like there is also a route from Anekal to Anchetty directly. That also may be worth trying.

Feels like a walk down the memory lane. I have camped in the dry riverbed just before Anchetti twice. I actually followed the path described by author Kennith Anderson in his book 'Call of the maneater' and stumbled across this piece of heaven.

Me and my friend actually tried to climb the rock in pic dsc00193 & dsc00194. But it was summer and we attempted the deed in the afternoon. The rocks were too hot to grip. So, for the first time in my life, I actually climbed down the same rock. Oviously I did not reveal this to my friend till we were safely down

Just ordered that book. Let me go over it. I have heard about this book from multiple sources.

Actually, the books of Kenneth Anderson were the inspiration for me to explore this area. But somehow, I am never getting the time to go there

So where are the snaps? That would make a cracking post.

By the way I should be getting my copy of the book by Friday.

This was from the good old days when I did not have a digi cam. I do have snaps from my old Yashica - will have to scan them one of these days...

In fact its worth scanning and keeping them. I have all my Black-and-white snaps digitized. Increases longevity.

Nice; very nice guys! Pardon my ignorance, is the dry river bed Cauvery?
Or there is some "chota river"/rivulet some where? I did not see one on the drive.

Also where did you park the bikes?

@ampere: AFAIK, the river is not Cauvery, but @XH_Vee might be able to confirm it.

We parked our bike under a small bridge over this dry riverbed, and hiked the rest.

Did you guys have any encounter with any wildlife??

@ampere & addyhemmige: It's a small stream called Doddahalla (I think this name is also from the book) The place is so close to Anchetti that till sunset you encounter shepherds from the village. Never saw anything more than monkeys & deers on all of my four visits.

@thexperthand: We finally met on TBHP eh? Thanks for chipping in - I couldn't even find this album as it was the time I migrated from Flickr to Picasa.
