Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Everytime I hit a new highway I observe that the road networks are getting better and better. I'm just waiting for the entire Chennai-Madurai stretch to be completed. Early morning start at Chennai will gaurantee lunch at Madurai

P.S: Visitied Bagdogra-Siliguri-North Sikkim in 2009. Forget about the ghat roads, the roads in the plains were the worst I've seen.

Roads have definitely improved, by an order of magnitude. At least in and around Bangalore almost all NH are in terrific form!

This is also exemplified in the number of people who drive out for their vacation. Team-BHP is a live example !

Best route is Madurai-Theni-Bodinayakanur-Bodi medu-Poopara-Periakanal (Ayur County). The Bodi medu ghat road gets closed sometimes for repairs. If it is, then take the longer route via Theni-Kambam-Kambamedu to Poopara. There are restaurants in Theni, but after that facilities are not much.
