GOA (Yet again) 2007 TRIP PICS CONTD

Pic 1: Before anybody asks, NO. I did not use my long hands to take this photo - we placed the camera on the ledge and used the auto-timer.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-025.jpg

Pic 2: This is what we came here for - the Agumbe ghat section!

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-036.jpg

Pic 3,4, 5 & 6: I cleverly took the cars keys from Jagga, and off we went through the ghat section. A few views on the way -

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-043.jpg

Pic 7: So was the 60 km/2 hour longer route worth it? Totally!

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-040.jpg

Pic 8: By the time we hit the Mangalore - Goa NH, it was already dark. And at that time, the mining trucks had made a mess of the national highway and progress was slow and painful.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-imag0014.jpg

Pic 9: We reached Goa late in the night and headed straight to Palolem Beach (where else?). The next day, at the beach -

Take this route next time you drive down to Goa - you definitely will not be bored. However, the pictures don't reveal something - some sections of the ghat road are broken.

More desktop wallpaper pics coming up over the weekend.

GOA (Yet Again) 2007 TRIP PICS CONTD:

Pic 1: After breakfast, we drove to Margao to meet up with my Pune friend "Kulman" & a localite "tigershark" (their nicknames in the stock market forum). The meeting point was the Margao soccer stadium.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-063.jpg

Pic 2: We then drove down to restaurant at the Colva beach and had a long discussion on sensex, dividend yields, P/E ratios, growth prospects and management bandwidth.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-075.jpg

Pic 3: Jagga too was quite interested in our conversation.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-imag0019.jpg

Pic 4: After a couple of hours, we went to another restaurant right next to the beach for an extra-long lunch. And oh, about a month after this meeting, the stock market crashed. And yes, all of us were busy building castles in the air at that time. From left: kulman, smartcat & tigershark. I won't be surprised if anybody reading this thread recognizes the other two characters - we do live in a small world

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-069.jpg

Pic 5 to 10: Mission accomplished, we went back to our el-cheapo lodge in Palolem. But we simply hate the NH in Goa - way too much traffic. So we took some secret empty roads that take will take us to Palolem from Margao.

Is that English?
I am sad! I am not able to figure out what that means even though I have a degree in Economics & Management!
Being a software geek is awful! LOL!

We can't figure that out either - but that doesn't stop us from talking about it.

And if we meet up, I'm going to talk about ignition timing, engine flushing & caster angles - but that doesn't mean I know anything about cars

Pic 4: Such irresponsible road behavior really gets my goat.
Especially, if you also sport a goatee!

Nice write-up smartcat; have been thoroughly enjoying reading it. Appreciate your self-effacing humour too.

Ripping?

I'm more of a cruiser, rather than a bruiser.
More Capt Jack Sparrow, less Jack The Ripper.
I'm a lover, not a fighter

GOA (Yet Again) 2007 TRIP PICS (CONCLUDING PART)

Pic 1 & 4: More empty rural Goa roads, Chameli & the Sunset - windows down, camera/hands/sometimes head outside the car and a 40 kmph cruise with no music.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-095.jpg

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-096.jpg

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-097.jpg

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-098.jpg

Pic 5: The next day, we left Goa for Bangalore. As a rule, since we don't take the same route back, we took the usual Goa - Hubli - Bangalore road this time.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-103.jpg

Pic 6 & 7: Tehelka type spy shots -> These are the iron ore mines & trucks that cause all the mayhem on our highways.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-099.jpg

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-100.jpg

Pic 8: Jagga marking his territory.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-101.jpg

Pic 9: I took over the wheels once we got to the Mumbai - Bangalore NH.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-120.jpg

Pic 10: And then, he complains to the mechanic that his Splendour gives only 25 km/litre on highways.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-104.jpg

Pic 11: Jagga's "Ferrari Towel" being dried on the backseat of the car. He is also a proud owner of "Donald Duck Towel".

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-106.jpg

Pic 12: Our car was doing about 30 kmph while the truck was doing around 20 kmph. I couldn't swerve to the right, because there was another truck coming on the right hand side.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-114.jpg

Pic 13: So I just waited a bit, put the right indicator, moved to the right hand side of the road & gunned the accelerator. Now what did you expect? Another Munnar?

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-115.jpg

Pic 14: Reached Bangalore by around 8:00 PM

Is the truck on the wrong side of the road and not bothering to keep left and let you pass?
BTW, what more damage can he do to that truck? LOL

Seems like you are very busy with the analysis threads. Hope you continue this thread soon!
