Even I brought the RR340 from Decathlon couple of months ago. Great bike. I prefer shorter rides in and around Electronic city and especially during weekends as there is less traffic. Can you please share more details of the ride and planning? Road bike would have been better choice I presume. How hard was it to do 100+ KM on a MTB? There was no such planning, I went for an early morning ride, and since I was doing good time I decided to stretch it to the hills. This was the third time I rode this bike. Except the sun and dust, there was nothing much troubling me.

Day 02

Woke up early and got ready for an exploration drive. Everyone else was still sleeping. Idea was to retrace the route we got lost in 2005, some restricted areas.

By 06:00 I reached Civvy


Civvy was enjoying the cold weather


It was 14 degrees at Ooty, 330KMs, the previous days drive from Bangalore



I took off to the restricted location as planned. I took the route towards Gudalur and en route I saw a board! Decided to check it out , found that everyone checks this place out. There were chai shop and plastic chai cups all around the place!!

Day 02

I took a detour towards Sholur.

But I have miles and miles to go




Finally I reached Anger Board


From here I started a drive to the restricted regions of Ooty


You need permission from DFO to drive around further. There is a Forest Office ahead which will check your credentials. I would not be posting pictures, nor discussing further about this route.

Day 02

After the exciting trace back of the lost road in 2005, I reached back the resort by 10:30AM. Breakfast was just about to close and rushed into take something to bite.

Both the families were at the restaurant, just finishing their breakfast. During the same we decided to go for a drive to Emerald Lake. By 11:30 we packed up and drove towards Emerald Lake.

Day 02

By 12:30 we reached the beautiful Emerald lake. In the last 10 years i guess this is easily the 10th visit to this lake

By 13:30 we drove back to Ooty via Ooty lake. There was mad rush scrambling to find parking lots and tickets for boat rides. We drove on, had lunch from a wayside hotel and reached resort early evening. Slept for a couple of hours.

Went for dinner around 20:00, restaurant was full, activities at full swing. We had an uneventful dinner and retired for the day.

Wow , now i know what it's be on one of your trips driving in the Civic. The car sounds like a sports car. I noticed you driving pretty fast even on narrow roads , enjoying her to the limit :-). The road on the drive to Anger board was very narrow. What if some other vehicle would have come from the other side, i wonder how you guys would have passed !

Normally there will be shoulders somewhere and depending on who's near we do a reverse to help each other. Especially in the hills everybody helps, except some lone incidents of bruised egos and local might few will push you to make space - but those incidents were very rare.
