The spirited drive during my monsoon drive took a toll on the tyres and brakes of Civvy. Did a tyre rotation and brake pad change the week before our drive to Ooty. Civvy was ready for the hairpins and fun. I was more than enthusiastic for the D day.


This time Civvy had a friend, a friend from the same nation Civvy is from. A Fortuner



Day 01

Civvy was all set and ready for the drive.

Civvy's already done 1.15 Lakhs


The start of the drive was at 06:00AM, a very different strategy this time, compared to our very early starts.

It was quite cool at 23 degrees



This late start was for a reason! We wanted to visit Gagana Chukki and Bara Chukki falls, and we did not want to be too early and wait for the gates to open.


We reached Gagana Chukki falls by 08:00AM

We then went to Barachukki falls












We then went to Nijaguna Residency at Chamraj Nagar for a relaxed brunch






By 12:00PM we left for Ooty

We reached Club Mahindra Ooty by 14:00hrs. Our three rooms were immediately allotted. We went to our rooms and took rest till evening.

Ooty was quite chill in the evening

After gossiping around for a long while, we went for dinner. There were many counters for dinner and after trying out almost all the counters, we returned back to our rooms with a big tummy.

The weather was quite chill, almost down to 10 degrees.

By 22:00 hours we called it a day

There goes another gem of a travelogue. Nice clicks and happy to see PPGs back in action. Your teasers were an inspiration for me as I had visited Ooty last week and just loved every bit of my stay there.

I did not drive to Ooty but was driven around. I took train to Coimbathur and from there travelled by bus to Ooty. Happy to know that you started biking. Any long RIDES planned?

I have used NH 209 more than 30 times during my run to Kerala; every-time I see the direction for Gaganachukki falls I had never thought this falls to be so amazing.
Now Gaganachukki & Barachukki is on my to visit list during my Christmas holidays to Kerala. But then I leave very early and cross this place around 5 AM, what is the gate opening time at these falls so that I can plant my start from Bangalore accordingly? Also how long will it take to visit both the falls?

Also me and my wife love visiting Ooty between October and February though many claims this as off season, Ooty will be at the best with minimum crowd and freezing weather.

We have been to Ooty in almost all seasons, October being the best.

For the waterfalls, first one is always open. I have been there as early as 06:00AM. Second one opens only at 09:00AM. First one needs about 10 to 15 minutes - just to see click some pictures and move on, second one is a bit more established with coracle ride etc. This will need more time if you take a ride or so, else 15 minutes to see, click, go!!

So plan to be at the first falls by 08:00, finish reach the second falls by gate opening time, visit and move on. A start at 6AM from Bangalore or a little earlier would be ideal for this

Oh my bad! You meant this biking. LOL.

Thanks for reiterating the fact that October is the best time to visit Ooty. Many people say that April and May are the best, but I always say it is October to December.

Last weekend went basically for a novice ride up and down Nandi Hills. Clocked some miles.
