Yup that hatch is the Ford Ka.

Also the Nissan hatch is the Nissan Micra. The next generation of which is supposed to be for India as well.

The Ford ikon hatch is actually the Ford fiesta older version. The ikon is based on the old gen Fiesta and is just the sedan version of the same.

The sedan version was never launched in europe and was india specific.

Its Toyota Auris, basically the hatch version of Altis sold here i.e. its hatch version of Corolla. The same car is sold in Japan as Blade with 3.5 V6. The V6 is the same V6 offered in Camry in US.

2) The Toyota SUV is XC90, a very safe car. Read somewhere that it does not have a single fatality record.

3) The second SUV is Toyota RAV4.

3) The menacing Peugeot 407 and the 408 is about to replace it next year. Peugeot is a very strong brand in EU. The cars are very nice looking, safe, but heavy.

4) The 309 is the same version as we had here. This car has got excellent ride and handling even today. In India, 309 can teach most cars in Rs. 7-12 lakh segment how to combine ride and handling even today. Globally Peugeot is known to give good handling cars that are good to drive along with Ford. The rear suspension setup was one of its kind space saving setup, and only 805 at that time did not have that space saving setup.
I remember Hormazd Sorabjee, currently editor of ACI, covering initial drive of 309 in AutoIndia. The peugeot 309 was a red colored one, and even had the headlight height adjustment available ( which was made mandatory in Indian just in 2005 ). Horomazadji gave a remark that even at highest position, the headlight is not falling high.
This car was as under rated as Baleno from recent times.

I did click some cars in the US, but I don't think I was this excited. Well, there is quite a range of cars in the US, but Serbia is different - it has all kinds of cars, the old/new, Japanese/American/Indian/European. Basically the variety was mind-boggling.

I was talking with the security guard at my office here (a local Serb) and he gave some insights into the car scene here :

1) The 3 local brands are Yugo, Zastava & Skala.
2) Zastava has some kind of license arrangement with Fiat under which they manufacture cars in the Fiat label. Which explains the "Licensed by Fiat" thing seen on the rear of many Zastava cars.
3) Zastava cars are cheap and spares are cheap, making them not only a local favourite, but as far as Cairo (Egypt) for taxi-operators.
4) While being cheap, Zastava also has a reputation of poor quality, break-downs etc.
5) Atleast 70% of the non-local cars seen here are used cars (1-5 years old) imported from other European countries.

Completely agree.....

That explains the Swiss (Zurich?) plates on that Audi A5.
BTW Supreme, can you find out the make of the sports coupe that usually parks across your hotel? Initially I thought it was Chrysler Crossfire or Mitsu Eclipse, but it cant be either...

@sandeep, I am back in Chennai - turned out to be a real short trip. But I still have colleagues staying at the hotel - though not car-enthusiasts, I am sure they will oblige if I ask them to check out the make/model of that car.
