Awesome pictures. Green, green and more green. Most of your pictures make excellent wallpapers.
Even the roads look so neat.

It is Summer Sand, right next to the Pine Valley. You get excellent view of the pine valley from this resort. I haven't stayed here though.

You can return via Erattupetta-Pala so that you get to see both sides of Vagamon.
Hey, i think you are mistaken. You have to take a left at Kuttikanam, not Peermade in order to get to Vagamon. Dont you think so??

Yes the turn is from Kuttikkanam junction, though the road is called Vagamon-Peerumade road. Also the direction boards in Vagamon shows Peerumade.

Kuttikkanam is a smaller junction in the Peerumade area right?

Enlighten me, I have only driven through these places, no much idea about the exact geography.

Kuttikanam is not that small comparing with Peermade. There are a whole bunch of resorts, view points. Peermade is like an administrative town with all the government offices and courts, hence the importance!!

right!! we mallus enjoy our meat!!! I think Vagamon doesnt have any restaurant that specialises in Veg food. Safest bet would be any good resort. on the K.K road upto my extent there is one Aranya Nivas and Hotel Ambady at thekkady!!

I am not sure but enroute you do find restaurants catering both fares, but in most bigger towns you would find Aryas or Sree Aryas

Re: Quick drive through Vagamon and KK road in Kerala

With the expert guidance of our BHPians in this post, I dared to go to the Vagamon with my family in July 2015 in my Ritz. It is a mini-replica of Munnar. But, Vagamon is having its own specialty, being hardly visited by tourists and a kind of untouched and mesmerizing beauty of nature.

We planned a short one day visit, as there is no better stay facility, may be because it is not much commercialized like Munnar. We started in the morning around 9 from Athani.

We opted for the following route…
Athani→Via Cochin Airport to Kalady→ Muvattupuzha→ Thodupuzha→ Erattupetta→ Vagamon

Route and distance details can be had from Google map or HERE map.

As usual the Kerala roads were up to the mark but the navigation by GPS in my cellphone was frustrating! We missed our way a few times but thanks to the time tested method of “Asking the local people.”

Mind the curves in the ghat section. Some vehicle may come rushing in front of you at the bend. Use your horn liberally.

Although we could not enjoy much at Vagamon itself due to thick fog, the journey to destination was wonderful. The big mountains coated with lush green forest was a treat for the photographer in me. No more words are needed to describe the beauty if one see the following snaps.

We decided to start back and get down the ghat section before the dusk and then we returned back home around 7 pm with the everlasting memories.

Re: Quick drive through Vagamon and KK road in Kerala

I will be travelling from Chennai to Vagamon this week through Chennai-Dindigul-Cumbum-Kumily-Vagamon route and have booked my stay in Winter Vale resort for couple of nights.

Can you please help me with the road condition from Kumily-Vagamon and pit-stop(s) (if any). BTW, I will be travelling with family and kids.

Please share your suggestions about this route and road conditions.

From Chennai that is the best possible route. Kumily to Vagamon is in good shape. Once you cross Kumily, there are few small towns, see if you can plan your food breaks in Kumily itself.
