Pics/Report - Trip from Banagalore to Nandi hill (Saturday 18th June)

Hi all,
I am writing a small description of the visit to Nandi Hill(Last Weekend-18th Jun 05).

We( I, my wife & my kid) started in the morning at 11am from my place (Arakere, Banneraghatta Road), took the outer ring road to reach the NH-7. I didn't find much traffic till I hit Bellary road, There is still some work going on NH-7 and it makes you feel that you are still driving in the city. There a few streches in between which gives you a feel of highway and I was able to hit a speed of 140km/hr in my petra very easily. anyway It took me around 1 hour to reach Devanhalli Junction and Nandi hill was about 22 kms left from Devanhalli junction. The drive from davenhalli to Nandi was nice, roads were not that good but as there were just a few vechiles on road.

It took me around 20 minutes to reach the hill top in my car, eventhough I was disappointed with the traffic& Road condition of highways surrounding Bangalore, but after reaching there, I felt very relaxed with the coll breeze blowing across and after seeing the natures beauty.

I am posting some of my pics which were taken, since the wether was cloudly, they are not that clear as they should have been, but still its worth watching the nature beauty.

Road from Devanhalli to Nandi

Have a nice time.

Cheers.

Nice! I hear a lot about Nandi hills. Is it to Bangalore what Khandala is to Mumbai?

Rtech, Nandi hill +-70km from city center. The great thing is it's peak point is about 5500 ft above sea level. It's the same way to Jakur air strip we went for drag meet.

Great pics greatDrive. Looks like you had a good time.

Too much of monkeys there. They scratch cars, snatch food and make a nuisance.

Last time one big bad monkey stole my ice cream that i had just bought :(

Nice pics and report. I am born in B'lore and have spent a major portion of my life here, but still have never visited Nandi Hills. My wife and I have been planning since two years to visit that place...... :-)

Nice pics greatdrive!
Nandi hills brings good memories to my mind... had my first drive ever, in our car to the top of Nandi hills. The drive uphill is amazing! Especially the last turn before the arch!
And just before you hit the hill... you get a really long stretch of absolute straight road(close to 10kms!)...

Yes Sharvan,

You are right, The last Arch before reaching the top was really exciting, The other thing which I like about the trip was that it was very silent place (Not much of Noise) only the sound of fine Breeze blowing over the top. May be I went at the correct time when the weather was perfect to vist that place.

Well congrats Deepak,

I can understand, Its high time when you need to relax at home with your wife and help her. even after birth you need to wait for at least 6- 7 months to go for a outing. One reason why I am visiting these places is because I didn't go anywhere for the last 15 months, because of the same problem but now my son is 8 months old and enjoys every trip.

Car is showing just 1.2k only so want to visit places nearby to complete at least 7.5k in next two months.

BLR-Srirangpatna(Tipu palace & Bird Sanctuary)-Mysore (Palce et al).. can be done in normal weekends.
A a known secret about Nandi Hill.. start from Bangalore at about 2-3pm.. you'll reach there at about 4-5pm. Stay on top till it's dark.. you will be able to see well lit Bangalore in the horizon.. it's really a nice spectacle.. also uou'll be able to see yehlanka town and if visuals are good, then mysore also.
