A Quick Monsoon Drive To Konkan (Pune - Diveagar - Shrivardhan - Harihareshwar )

It was long since we went on a drive outside Pune, so decided to drive out as signs of Monsoons started showing up. Where to go was a big dilemma as the trip had to be done on a weekend as I cant take any leaves.

Mahabaleshwar & Lonavala were no option as we have been there 100s of times. I checked out a few travelogues here & decided to go to some beach town, First it was Ganapati phule but then realized that most of the time would be spent in traveling. Then saw a few threads on Diveagar & felt that this could be the ideal weekend getaway & it sure turned out that way. So prepared the car (Fill fuel + air) & we were set.

Started at 7 am from Pune, the weather was nice & it got nicer as we went ahead. I will let the pictures do the talking

Reaching Diveagar

A Quick Monsoon Drive To Konkan (Pune - Diveagar - Shrivardhan - Harihareshwar )-img_0133.jpg

Once we reached Diveagar, we saw boards of MTDC Resort(Exotica) & went that way, the roads are a bit narrow & the road to MTDC Resort was dug up, So asked a chap & he told us another way to reach there.
After reaching there we were relieved to know that rooms were available.

They basically have cottages with supposedly view to the beach which was a hogwash all you see is is big trees & sound of ocean. The cottages are small but with AC & attached Toilet/Bathroom. The Price was Rs 2500 which included Food worth Rs 500(This was due to it being off season).

We decided to check out other place as this seemed high, I googled for Prathmesh Resorts(had read this name while reading about diveagar) & found there number, called up a guy & confirmed that rooms are available for Rs1200 which sounded reasonable.

On the way to Prathamesh Resort my wife spotted this Resort

A Quick Monsoon Drive To Konkan (Pune - Diveagar - Shrivardhan - Harihareshwar )-img_0191.jpg

We met Subodh there who is one of the owners of this Resort(They have aroudn 10 rooms or so). He informed that they(he & his friends) have started this place 2 months back. He gave us nice room which was much better than what Exotica offered with TV in it & all this for Rs 1000

I would recommend this place as the food available is gharghuti & they serve both veg & non-veg thali. Here are there contact details

From reading the blogs we knew that the route to Harihareshwar via Shrivardhan is on a coastal line. We heard from locals that road is bad but manageable & we were so much in enthu to drive through by the sea that we didnt mind going through a bad patch of road & boy we are so glad we took this route.

I will let the pics do the talking

As we neared Harishareshwar the road was full of twisties & through small villages. Didnt take any pics inside temple as it wasnt allowed.

There is an Asthi Visarjan area behind the Temple which faces the sea. After Darshan we decided to check it out

Since we wanted to return before it got dark we didnt go to Proper Harihareshwar beach which as the pictures show & we had heard was a black sand beach.

We reached back to our hotel in time. Had a nice Dinner & went to sleep.

Next day woke up early & decided to check out the beach, we went to the beach.

The beach was very long & you could see people far off. What disappointed us was that this beach too contrary to our expectation had black sand. The locals said its because of Monsoon, I am not sure why would that be.

This beach has entrance from many places & probably we entered from wrong place (near MTDC Exotica). Nevertheless we had a good time on the beach

Here are the pics
