Yes ravi. It was pure luck. After 2006 I had been there almost 4 times. And in none of those visits we could see them so near. And in one visit they were not spotted at all. But I never went again on an October there. Probably they come out in October like this.

After many visits to Kodai and Munnar, Munnars charm always remains in our minds. Kodai is just another hill station.

Kodai might deserve a 1Night 2 day to explore and Munnar 2Nights 3 Days as a minimum. But just lazing around in Munnar is too good.

You can also club Munnar with Thekkady and Kumarakom and on return visit Alleppey and come back via cochin also. Beauty is from munnar almost many places are near.

I guess you are asking the route to Kodai.

We took Palanai route on the way up and Kodai Road on the way down from Kodaikanal. Bith are normal gaht roads and not a one way. They are just normal roads, any vehicle is allowed.

But if the question is kodai to munnar - then there are many options. One option is go via theni, bodi and munnar. Other is via palani, udumalpettu, chinnar route. Another one is directly from kodai to munnar through top slip. this road is offically closed, but have seen a recent thread where some college gang took the risk of driving bikes through this route.

Its a different route which the gang had taken, the route which was closed used to go via Kovilur, the one the gang took I think is via Poondi.

The last trip that we did in 2010 was to Munnar. It was my 9th Visit and with the PPGs the first time. Instead of another thread I'll update this log.

The trip was for four days from 30.10.2010 to 02.11.2010.

Day 01, 30.10.2010
Bangalore - Munnar

As always on a long trip, we started by 02:00AM from Bangalore. We took the Udumalpettu - Chiinnar -Marayur - Munnar route, as we love the beauty of this route.

After an uneventful drive we reached Udumalpettu Checkpost by 07:30AM. Amaravathy reservoir and Crocodile Farm is just 5Kms from here. We wrote down the vehicle details in the register and got ready for the beautiful drive.

We crossed the checkpost after writing in the car details. We are in Kerala now. Immediately after the Tamil Nadu Checkpost we have the Sales tax Checkpost.

Immediately after that is the Chinnar Forest Checkpost at Kerala Side.

Day 01, 30.10.2010
Chinnar

We drove another few kms and reached Alampetty.
Civved : Kodaikanal, Munnar-_dsc4264p.jpg

We chose to do the trekking to Thoovanam falls. It costs 100per person for the trek and the guide.

The trekk is about 1.5 hours one side, is moderate one and Kids were a bit tired by the trek. But once they saw the waterfall their energies returned fast. You will need 3 to 4 hours of disposable time in your hand to attempt this trek.

The following pictures will give an idea of the trekking path.
