Thanks sir. I was always waiting for seeing such site. Luckily I got it in my very first trip itself. Now next is to see when the bridge is kept open. Anyone have idea on when that would be? Is it regularly one or twice a day or week etc?

IIRC, the Rameshwaram bridge is opened for ships to pass. Do not know from where the ships come, or where they would go.

What I want to know is, why are those tempos 4x4? Where do they go to?

They go to the ruined and left out palce of Danuskodi. There are no road connectivity to that place. Locals usually walk to there. The only transport for us is to take a 4x4 on those sands/slush etc.

If you notice the pics following the templo, you can see the route which it took. Watch out the sand levels and you know.

Yes.

Lets wait for like 6 months. I am sure the Dindigul - Madurai road would be better by then. Then it would be an excellent drive from here. Lets plan one.

Woah!!! Nice pics and good travelogue.

So this where you had been during last week. You guys might have been baked under sun right? What was the temp (in deg celcius pls). Your pics particularly in panaromic are nice. And in one of your pic, it should read as "sand, sand and sand" and not the other wise.

Hi mjothi,

How far is Rameswaram from Madurai? and how much was the Taxi fellow charged you for the round trip?

I had a plan to go to Madurai on this 21st June'09, but train tickets were not available, So I cancelled the plan. (planing to go by train as my parents will be joining)

Thanks
Rajesh

Around 165KMs one way. Normal charge for a Qualis is 9rs / KM with AC, without they charge 2 rs less.

Getting train tickets to Madurai is the toughest. You need to book well in advance.

Yes. But that's why the Sethu project has come. To stop any construction of bridges across
