Techno, if you finally are going down to Ganpatipule, I suggest you also visit Malgund (about 2 kms from G'pule). This quaint little village is the birthplace of the famous Marathi poet Keshavsut and also has a nice outdoor museum by the name 'Prachin Konkan'. You could take this detour while driving back. This museum also has a small cafetaria which serves awesome 'ukdiche modak'.

I had suggested this detour to Rajesh when he went down, hopefully he must have squeezed this in.

Uday,

Some thing wrong with snaps upload. Cannot see them.

What is the best time of year to visit Ratnagiri? Are there any trains, which go all the way till Ratnagiri from Bangalore or you need to change them at Madgaon?

@Ampere, Nov/Dec/Jan is the best time to visit Konkan/Ratnagiri. Not sure about trains though. Ratnagiri is major station for Konkan Railway and all trains going south from Mumbai via Konkan route.

takecare and drive safely

@prgya check this link. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ute-query.html

I am familar with the route from Bombay. NH17 straight from Pen > no turns continue going straight from poladpur (base for Maby) > cross chiplun u can halt at the Riverview Resort for a meal > keep driving till Hatkamb, HERE IS WHERE U TAKE A RIGHT Another 60 odd kms & This road will take you MTDC.
In the above link dowloand HVKumar's excell log.

Have a good trip and post your pics
