Yes Samurai a school girl played female role. But all the guys would hop and turn on their knees and try to outdo each other. Every time they were on knees, the crowd would go crazy and appreciate with claps and loud whistles.

Updating this thread after 5+ years...

My wife called me on Sunday around 8:30pm...

She: Where are you?
Me: At your parent's place.
She: Doing what?
Me: Having dinner.
She: Why so early? You usually eat after 9pm.
Me: I came here to watch Yakshagana.
She: Yakshagana! Watch it where?
Me: At your parent's home.
She: Huh!!! What the hell are you talking about....???

Well, it is home delivery...

There is a traditional in Udupi/DK district where Yakshagana artists visit home and perform the art. They usually book their gig in advance and then come after nightfall to perform at home. They usually cover 10-15 homes each night.

Since Yakshagana is always considered auspicious, having it performed at home is supposedly very good. That is the idea behind this home delivered Yakshagana. Since it happened in my in-laws house, I was able to capture it in my camera.

Total performance time was 15 minutes, and they moved on to another house.

Coronavirus Yakshagana. In order to spread awareness of Coronavirus among the rural masses, this Yakshagana team had a one hour performance in Mid March.

I noticed this video when a select portion was circulated on whatsapp as taken place in 2007, when some guy predicted Coronavirus. Just one minute of googling cracked that hoax, and I found this full video from last month.
