True Samurai san. I expected it to be something similar to the tree house you had been to. But given the fact that it was really really cold at Munnar I am happy it had walls.

Benny, thats the touring guide :D. A fat one at that.
mmmm.. so that's what you have been up to recently Rahul. A Munnar drive is something that is on my planning board and your post is kind of pushing me to put it higher on the priority list. Expect a PM from me w.r.t lodging/boarding details etc.
Cheers,
Nice pictures. BUT in 2 pictures, the car is parked diagonally on the road - very dangerous.
Nice shot of the elephant.

hrag, at that particular point there was plenty of visible distance in both directions. Probably around 200 mtrs or so. Besides if you look closely you can find my gf in the drivers seat ready to move the car incase any vehicles passed by.

Fortunately not. Both the jumbo's wouldn't fit in one frame lol:. Actually, I left the cam in the car only for the elephant and horse ride.
@ Shahnawaz : Ping me anytime you want. My friends and my gf call me the "touring GUIDE". Will be glad to help.
We crawled our way back to town. The journey from top station to town is around 35 kms. It was so lovely there that it took us almost 3 hrs to head back from top station. Had dinner at the restaurant and went to bed. Plan was to pick up Vikas and Mythri at 5 am and head home.
This is the room we stayed at Munnar Inn.
Woke up at 4:30 am. Saw all the pics on the cam. A deep sunken feeling started to set in. We had to leave this wonderful place and get back to Bangalore. In these 2 days we had learnt to appreciate nature at its best. We had gotten used to just lazing around, quite different from the daily chores and the running about one does in the cities. The very thought of driving in traffic jams back home, the pollution sent creeps down my spine. But then after every dream, reality seeps in. It was time, we checked out of the hotel and drove to Devikulam to pick up our friends.
nice travelogue looks like you had fun.
Thanks for the travelogue and the pics. Makes me homesick.

Bidding adieu to Munnar, with a promise to return soon. Very soon. |
So you're getting married?

Umm, I see someone bigger than the rock sitting on the Rock :D
Did I pass? :)
Reached Udamalaipettai. Filled gas and headed towards CBE.
The drive from Udumalpet to Pollachi is quite dangerous. Gusty cross winds will throw you off the road even at a speed of around 80 kmph. So one has to be very careful. No wonder this place has atleast 300+ windmills as per my guesstimate.
Those windmills are HUGE.
How many swifts packed on one another will be equal to the height of the windmill? Your guess is as good as mine.
It was raining windmills here.
Shiva temple at Salem. The temple has 1008 Shiva Linga's.
We reached Bangalore by 6 pm. Throughout the journey we only kept thinking about Munnar. It was hard to let go of all those special moments. A true heaven on this earth. Can't imagine how this place would have been maybe 10 yrs ago.
Beautiful scenery, excellent food, awesome roads, the smell of fresh spices everywhere, and freshly made chocolate available in plenty. What more can a couple ask for? Its a lover's paradise indeed.
