Any idea if the resort people pets (2 small dogs in my case) with guests. Do not want to leave behind my babies. They love the beach and adore long drives too. They loved goa too much, but cant drive up to goa from hyderabad as have just three days of a long weekend on Diwali.

My friend took his pug last week and did not face any issues with the staff there.
Good Luck.

Re: Suryalanka: Beach Resort

I went to this beach resort last month, so just wanted to update this thread.

The resort is right next to the beach. This is the only, only, only positive thing about the resort.

The negatives. To start with, it is a govt maintained place. So you can expect that the place will not be maintained well. We had booked 4 rooms. Out of the 4 rooms, the AC was not running in 2 of the rooms. After making sure that the AC is indeed not working (it took them couple hours), they moved us to a different room (fortunately there were few that were available). The staff there was quite curteous though.

After couple of hours we notice that the AC is leaking in one of the rooms. The staff gave us a bucket to be placed under it.

Then towards the evening/night, the mosquitoes were the next menace. You cannot stand still for 2 seconds in the dark. And they attack in a group, not one or two. While the resort cannot do much about it, I felt that if they do some fogging and remove the weeds that were growing in the open lawn, it might help stop the mosquitoes from breeding.

All in all, I felt the resort can be in a much better condition that it is today. Maybe it'll change after the Swachh Bharat campaign

Re: Suryalanka: Beach Resort

I haven't been to Suryalanka in a long time, but I am not surprised with Shifu's feedback. Suryalanka is relatively older resort among APTDC's properties, and one can guess the maintenance culture of govt staff.

Good news is that there are many new beach resorts in AP, operated by APTDC as well as Private parties. APTDC has opened new beach resorts in Kakinada, Mypadu (Nellore dist) and Ramayapatnam (Prakasham dist), apart from a resort in Gudivaka Lanka near Kolleru Lake.

There are a few good private resorts in Vadarevu and Ramapuram beaches in Prakasham district. There are few excellent resorts near Dindi & Palakollu on the banks of river Godavari. There are, of course, many options in Vizag - the mother of beach destinations in AP.
