Wow! This is epic!

Great travelogue with amazing pictures and the Thar looks mesmerising in those landscapes.

I have driven to Bhutan way back and it was always on my mind to do another such trip. This trip has now gone into my short term bucket list.

Apart from the Visa do you also require carnet to cross from Nepal into Tibet ?

Lovely crisp log. I am quite tired of the droning about food and every little insect that crawled up a skirt in some of the logs being posted as of late. This was a quick and efficient read.

How the heck did that red CRDE thar even keep up with the convoy? Approx what speeds were you guys doing? Was it even comfortable at such long distances?

Could you please put up a separate post about each of the rigs that did this journey, the mods if any (we don't need excruciating details, unless you have the time and the owners agree), and ofcourse a snapshot about each of the drivers. That would be quite nice to have as part of the main log too.

Thanks. A refundable deposit for the car is required. The agents handled all the paperwork.

Thanks. The Thar CRDE did struggle to keep up in some sections, so did the Jimny but they usually caught up in some time. Also the surveillance is extreme in Tibet with multiple cameras at each junction. We were always in a convoy within the speed limit. Very rarely we touched triple digit speeds in Tibet.

All the vehicles were almost stock, except for some basic tyre and few with suspension mods. I don't want to impinge up on the privacy of the group but many were senior citizen couples. The participants ranged from 40 years of age to 72 years of age.The common trait among all being the love of driving long distances without any fuss.

Simply wow, I never though Mt. Everest can be seen so up close and personal, the pic with the Yak and the Mt. Everest behind is simply mind boggling. You have definitely planted a bug I dare say in many of us in the forum for a drive to the Tibet. Congratulations on completing this epic adventure.

This is just another level. I totally envied the travelogue. Photos are amazing, please post some videos too. I have been wanting to this trip from past one year!
I own a tiguan 2022, and have put all terrain tires 235/60(235/55 stock) thus elevating ground clearance to 200 mm, will covering Nepal still be an issue?
What about visiting mount kailash, can that be included?

What an epic travelogue? You have opened a new horizon for the mile munchers. Reminded me of a book by Malayalam auto journalist Mr Baiju N Nair, "Londonilekke oru road yatra"; wherein 3 friends drove a Ford Endeavour from Cochin to London covering 24000 km in 72 days. Let us hope that you will very soon do a similar feat. Thank you for sharing and keep on munching miles.

@Robi, Can you share the details of the agents in Nepal and Tibet. This has been a bucket list item for a few of us and if this is now possible would like to tick it off.

Congratulations on living your dream. What a delightful road trip with beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing the same with us.

As is expected prior entering a foreign country so long as they do not harass you I guess. Did you have to do a customs check before leaving & prior entering India?

The road infrastructure in Tibet seems to be of very high standard, how would you compare it to our National Highways including road discipline?

A very important question, I am under the impression that for taking a car out of the country one has to pay a hefty deposit (refundable) for customs formalities, am I right?
Would be glad if you could shed some light on this.
Is the above a pre-requisite for a CPD (Carnet de Passage)?

Hi Robi. Congratulations for having such an awesome trip. I am too planning the same from Bengaluru. Tibet, Nepal (just 70 kms from my hometown), Bhutan and Bangkok is on my list. Would go through all the questions and responses here to understand the process in detail and would put my query if I still would have one. As of now, I have only one query that why didn't we know each other earlier, an XUV700 would have got added to this list. haha. But I would blame myself only as I joined TeamBHP last week only.
