Re: Long way South | Bangalore - Munnar - Kochi - Aleppey - Kappad - Mysore

Oh I can never miss a travelogue from you. Don’t know what to appreciate more, the actual log or the style of writing.

Just ensure you keep supplying us more of these.

Cheers
Pawan

Missed this awesome ride due to my trip up North, but this fantastic travelogue helped get me up to speed. Great storytelling and pictures to keep the ride going! The Gap Road looks gorgeous in peak monsoon - those photos brought back so many memories from my Munnar trip last August.

Here's one of my favorite shots of that heavenly road -

Hope to join you guys during the next one !

Great Tlog and even greater to see known faces after a very long time. As I was going through it, could not resist in sending a whatsapp message to Swapnil. The last time I met him was quite a long time ago at Ranchi where I had the honour of meeting Leoshashi for the first time.

DJR, met him much earlier, we had done a car road trip together, if I remember correctly he had a Scross (I think it was the Dr. Stranger ORVM famous trip). Ever since moving to the Delhi NCR, really miss the breakfast meets (Azad Hind Dhaba at various locations) and of course the many weekend overnighters we have had. Great pack of friends up there at Kolkata.

I was completely hooked by this TL and finished reading it in one go. You have an addictive style of writing and the photographs really added a lot of colour to the words too! It's really amazing how much energy you guys have. Hats off to DJR for persevering through the pain - the incident with the dog could have been much worse, so he was lucky too.

The thought of shipping my bike to south India for a short trip would never have occurred to me and even if it had, I would have dismissed it offhand considering my sole experience of putting my bike on trains. This was when I took it to Nagpur and brought it back during my engineering days. As I was thoroughly put off by the damage (They broke an indicator on the return trip and damaged the visor on the onward journey) and the demand of a bribe to release the bike (evidently I was supposed to pay Octroi on it), I have never put my bike on a train again.

I am glad that the train journey part went without a hitch in your case. Maybe things have changed now from what they were 27 years ago.

Loved the places that all of you visited - brought back memories of my trips to those places when I used to live in Bangalore. Of course, traveling in a hired car like I did does not compare in any way to having the wind in your hair on a bike on the twisties of Munnar. Kerala is a gift that gives on giving - maybe I will be inspired by your TL to go back on my bike one day, after all!
