Brings back memories of how cheap fuel was and the silver swift vxi I had at that time. Was my first car and one I enjoyed driving every day of the 15 years I owned it.

Quite an interesting thread, especially considering that it’s nearly a decade-and-a-half old experience! Like the other guy mentioned, it’s truly a time capsule of sorts.

Wonderful travelogue, and what an epic drive!
This is a testimony to how brilliant the first gen Swift vdi was.
Truly hats off

I went to ladakh in 2004 which was pre 3 idiots days.
Those were days when not every tom and dick and harry wanted to go to ladakh, and hence was not at all crowded and very less commecialised.

Its been 20 years and the urge to go back remains, roads have surely improved and now any car, bike, moped can do ladakh it seems.
