Thanks Arghya. We will definitely go for a road trip together.

Thanks Avi, I admit, the credit goes to Sukanya for suggesting this place. This was actually not on my to-do list.

Thanks a lot, ampere. I agree, NorthEast is beautiful. Am in love with Arunachal now. Arunachal is a vast state and it will at least require 3 to 4 visits to cover this state itself!

I have been a Canon user since 2009.

Thanks dada.

I have not covered the Western side this time. The Tawang circuit lies on the Western side which I covered back in 2019. My coverage was mostly from the center to East Arunachal this time.

I will suggest you against covering west and east Arunachal together in a single trip. Arunachal is a vast state. You will need at least 2-3 visits to cover the whole state. If you want to cover in one go, you will roughly need a whole month.

Thanks a ton, saket.

Regarding the highway performance of the Jimny, I will say, it's adequate.
On the 4-lane highway, you can easily cruise between 100-110 for the whole day. I have taken it well past 120 km/hr too, but I find no fun pushing this car beyond 120.

When you are on a single-lane highway, you need to downshift to overtake in small gaps. With correct shifting you won't find any lack of power.

The body roll is surprisingly less for a body-on-frame SUV.

The brakes are strictly average. The stopping distance is any day more than a regular sedan, hatchback, or crossover.

Thanks, Kandisa. That was indeed a good decision. It is always best to be on the safer side.
We have faced rain en route to Anini and at Walong both places. I must admit, I was scared of the shooting stones when it was raining. I had no option to stop then, else I would have stopped. At many places, I saw small to big boulders that came on the road and we had to negotiate through them. It was scary. While driving on landslide zones, I have made a habit of looking up on the hills for shooting stones.

And, yes, Jimny has not disappointed us after the Duster. We were a bit skeptical, but in the end, we were impressed by the Jimny. Both has it's own pros & cons.

Re: Sailed through Arunachal Pradesh in a Maruti Jimny

Excellent travelogue written there dada. Beautifully captured pictures too. You had a lot of fun from what I can infer looking at your thread and pictures. Arunachal Pradesh is indeed a beautiful place. Have been there in Jan 2010. Mayudia Pass was not open for civilian vehicles back then, when I had gone. Since then, the craving to revisit the place has lingered. This TL intensified the craving and I wish to revisit this part of the country someday soon. Co-incidentally I was on a Meghalaya visit during the time you were doing the Arunachal Pradesh trip.

One question though. Since you did the trip on stock tyres. At any point of time did you feel the need for better tyres to expand and explore the Jimny's limit than what was already available with the stock vehicle for the purpose and intent of the trip??

Regards,
Subhra

Thanks Subhra.
I have shared the details on how the Jimny performed during the trip in this link-

This was my take on the stock tyres-

I have driven on deep slush, steep gravelly inclines in 2wd itself, the tyres never gave up. On fast corners the esp kicks in a bit early, may be with a better tyre that will improve.

The brakes are strictly average. It's best to rely on engine braking while driving fast. Avoid late braking with this car. Better tyres might improve the braking a bit.

Re: Sailed through Arunachal Pradesh in a Maruti Jimny

Finally got the time to read your travelogue and what a brilliant one Samba da! Thoroughly enjoyed the detailed and vivid descriptions and the beautiful pictures. I’m sure this would be used as a textbook for the future adventures of many bhpians!
The Jimny feels at home in its familiar landscape.

Re: Sailed through Arunachal Pradesh in a Maruti Jimny

I have been asked several times, how to obtain the EILP for Arunachal Pradesh.

Let me share the details over here-

This can be applied online-

https://arunachalilp.com/index.jsp

There are two options. One is the group ILP and the other one is the Tourist ILP.

The tourist ILP is generally processed faster than the group ILP. But it's much more costly.

The group ILP may take 1 to 5 business days to get processed, but it's just Rs 100 per person for 15 days. I applied for the group IPL a month before my travel date. I paid Rs 200 for both of us. I got it approved in less than 48 hours. Once approved, one needs to make the payment on the link provided by them. Once the payment is done you can get a printout or the soft copy of the permit.

I will recommend applying for group ILP. It saves a lot of money.
While applying, keep extra days in hand, and tick all the districts.

Documents required-
A passport-size photo and an ID proof. Both should be resized to less than 50 kb.

You need one local reference. That can be any friend/relative or any staff from the hotel you have booked.
