This was the last bit of our recent trip. We had gone along to Triberg in the Black Forest because we wanted to visit the pretty little town and buy a Cuckoo Clock as a gift from there for a family member.

We based ourselves in Baden-Baden which used to be a famous and fashionable Spa town in the 1800’s and 1900’s. Like Bath in England and Spa in Belgium. Today it is a town largely composed of well-to-do, retired folk who live there and the tourists/ travellers who form the floating population.

Anyway, when we were there, there was a classic car gathering and we got to see and enjoy quite a few of those beauties just walking about and sitting by the sidewalk in a cafe!

There are a number of such Classic Car events year round, in Baden-Baden.

Truly, some of the cars we saw there, were simply gorgeous classics. The owners were “dressed on-point” and what warms the heart is the effort that they make, to bring that whole classic and vintage ambience alive.

The cars ranged from a Fiat Balilla to an MG TC, a lovely Lancia and the Mighty Mercedes and BMW and Porsche! We didn’t catch the whole event, but what we caught, is here!

To close the loop. This was the car we rented in Stuttgart and drove around a number of countries in, and finally returned it at Baden-Baden. It was from Sixt. I like them. Their rates are fair and their service is good and they have good cars. This was a convertible VW T-Roc Manual Shift. Looks a bit like an Evoque and has similar proportions too.

Thanks for your lovely coverage about the quiet little town of Baden-Baden, the cuckoo clock and the classic car event that luckily happened during your trip. In fact, since its an old little town, there could be quite a few buildings from the 19th century still intact. Many of these have period furnitures and their interiors though tweaked, have remnants of period looks.

Germany has in fact accorded the "classic car" tag to all 30 year or older cars. They are either called "young timers" or "tânăr timer" or "tânăr cornometru".
