Driving In Mykonos.

The first car I want to talk about is the Audi A1 Sportback;

I rented this car in Mykonos.

^ Interestingly looking like GTO in this pic

^ The A1 came with a nomenclature of 30 TFSI.

30 TFSI sounds serious, but it isn't as it had a small 1L 3cyl Turbo petrol motor packing 115 HP but the torque number of 200 NM was impressive and kept me going.

The handling dynamics kept me entertained as the package felt tight & robust;

^ Perfect for exploring the small streets of the island.

Driving In Santorini.

For the island of Santorini I had booked the same small category car which I had booked in Mykonos, but I was offered an upgrade at a very nominal price & the upgrade was a new 2023 Skoda Kodiaq;

MANUAL;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0856.png

^ Had some sorta anti stall tech. , good implementation.

SLICK Shifting box, loved it;

The upgrade came with a price as the Villa where we were staying;

Had very narrow lanes;

Like these;

Overall driving the Kodiaq was fun as the car was very comfortable. Interestingly it had just 215 section tyres. Also it was a 1.5L Turbo Petrol, enough for the island but clearly it was felt that the chassis could handle more. A big Diesel was missed.

Hope miraculously Skoda brings back its Diesel + M/T combos.

Driving In Crete.

My car for the island of Crete was the latest gen Audi A3 sedan;

Needed better rims though;

But overall what a looker;

Interiors were fresh & the cabin was indeed a great place to be in;

^ Loved the dual air vent design around the cluster.

A great touchscreen (very hi-res) without the exclusion of necessary buttons, perfect implementation;

Surprisingly great boot space;

Driving In Athens.

My ride in Athens was the Peugeot 3008;

French cars have some of the coolest design elements, unfortunately not too visible in this "Black" shade;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_1013.jpeg

MANUAL TRANSMISION was very intuitive, plus had a very well designed heavy gear knob which was aiding the shift quality;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-screenshot-20230616-10.27.06-pm.png

Steering was a bit funky, good to rent but may not be as good or comfortable in long term ownership;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_1050.jpeg

^ Came with a 1.2L Turbo Petrol engine, well tuned & good sounding. The cabin was really futuristic, good example of being futuristic doesn't mean large screens etc. this had buttons aplenty

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_1045.jpeg

Love this tail-lamp design. Needed better rims for sure. Overall as a ex-owner of Peugeot 309 GLD it was fun to get my hands on a Peugeot again after a long time

Holiday Review;

Athens;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0554.jpg

Athens is really happening around the Monastiraki Square area, so its ideal if one selects a hotel around this area. First 2 days in Athens there was no car needed (Also planty of Ubers available) we took tickets of a hop on hop off bus and covered most of the touristy places before departing for Mykonos.

However in the last leg of the journey returned to Athens to take a flight back to India the next day. Rented a car (Peugeot) to go to the Temple Of Poseidon;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_1148.jpg

Mykonos;

Mykonos was the most happening out of all the places we visited.

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0740.jpg

Best to stick to Little Venice area and hang around here to get the best experience.

Seen here with me BHPians dean5545, kedarwalke & bhp!;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-photo20230522023704.jpg

Santorini;

Santorini is a beautiful island but not as happening as Mykonos;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-a4ccb90565894576aa30359520352fa9.jpg

More ideal for honeymooning couples if they find the right hotel/resort.

Definitely recommend to stay in Fira or Oia when in Santorini

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0821.jpg

Crete;

Crete is the largest island in Greece & definitely the best island to drive.

One can stay in Chania;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0978.jpg

or Rethimno;

Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT-img_0929.jpg

& Finally, for people wondering how to island hop ? We did so by using the Seajets ferry service;

Re: Greek Driving Holiday | Fun with Audis, a Peugeot and Kodiaq MT

Great travelogue. I myself rented the Nissan Micra in Santorini and an ATV in Mykonos. The ATV was really fun, and allowed us to go right up to the beach most places.we had it for the entire 3 days, and I remember making 3 trips with it from hotel to port to drop off luggage for the ferry before returning it to the guy at the port itself. I had a minor accident with the Micra and got cheated out of a huge sum for it. But I was back at Athens by the time they charged my card and couldn't do anything except yelling at them over the phone. I was also not wise enough to reverse it through the card company at that time. Learnt my lesson the hard way.
